Hall of ROBOTS origins:
The word robot comes from the czech word robota, meaning drudgery or slave-like labor. It was first used to describe fabricated workers in a fictional 1920s play by Czech author Karel Capek called 'Rossum’s Universal Robots'. In the story, a scientist invents robots to help people by performing simple, repetitive tasks. However, once the robots are used to fight wars, they turn on their human owners and take over the world. On Friday October 19th, the American Museum of Natural History will turn fictional stories into realities and ROBOTS will become the next species of evolution.
This month we have teamed up with Flavorpill to co-present "One Step Beyond" with Superpitcher and Josh Wink. Following on from the success at the Guggenheim events last year, Flavorpill have secured another stunning setting for the new series of events. This time around the parties will take place at the American Museum of Natural History right under the planetarium! We couldn't think or a more excitng place to hold a show in place of our usual monthly residency at Cielo.
Joining us will be two tried and tested veterans of the NYC club circuit, Josh Wink (Ovum), who is certainly no starnger to these parts, and Robots long time Cologne partner, Superpitcher (Kompakt), who is touring fresh after having released the wonderful new 'Supermayer' album with friend and colleague Michael Mayer.
Show kicks of at earlier time of 9pm and goes until 1am, so make sure to get your tickets and come early.. All other details are on flyer/robots website.
