This one is for you TJ Hooker. cuz this one is ALL your fault!
No Peace on the 24th my friend... you gotta dance!
We love you for all time - you crazy beauty!

For those who experienced the amazing sounds of DVS1 last year (Subversive room at the W2 moving party) and couldn't get enough... and for those who just heard about it and felt the pangs of regret...

Subversive is very pleased to announce the return of one very busy DVS1 to our fair city! March 24, 2012 @ Open Studios! Do NOT miss the return of what LWE described as "an unrelenting... treat for a city that doesn’t usually get this kind of rising star techno experience."

Zak aka DVS1 (devious one) is one of the most prominent figures in the Midwest /US dance music landscape today. A local favorite since the mid nineties...DVS1 continues to move dancefloors with a combination of deep musical knowledge, unparallelled enthusiasm, and a vinyl collection of more than 10,000 records.

Zak's deep roots and his bold and uncompromising nature have won him great respect as a passionate defender and promoter (HUSH) of quality music. Zak began DJing in New York in the early nineties, focusing on the acid sounds of that time. After relocating to Minneapolis in the mid 90's his style evolved, like that of techno itself, into something more complex, something deeper and more rhythmic. Today DVS1's schedule takes him across planet earth. We are very very happy to have him stop in our corner again!

Some of Vancouver finest underground DJ's rounding out the rest of the amazing night- Scott W., Austin Phillips, and MITIM.

This night is the Subversive tribute to TJ Hooker and all that he loved.

Mon, 26 Mar 2012Wow, PVH followed by DVS1 within a couple months! Where were these line-ups when I was in Van a few years ago!

Mon, 26 Mar 2012Fantastic party! Totally worth the drive from Seattle, which included both trips to retrieve my car out of Vancouver tow yards =/

DVS1.. Holy Moses! It's been a bit since blistering, surgical techno has hit our coast, but it was totally worth the wait. You guys have been doing it right up there, which is great since Seattle is in a weird slump right now.

I didn't personally know TJ, but it was obvious that he was loved by many & hearing Scott & crew play his records was pretty amazing.... More
