What an amazing opening to 2012 we just experienced and the team can’t thank you all enough for making it such a memorable occasion and probably one of the greatest parties’ riffraff has ever thrown in its 8 year history. Xpress 2 loved it and have been back in touch sayi...ng it’s one of the best events they played at in a very long time plus that Kristoffer’s warm up set was perfect setting the mood just right (Not bad for a whopper ). To receive comments like this from such veterans of the scene puts everything in perspective and makes it all worthwhile.
Your all wondering what comes next then what can riffraff pull out the bag? Well we go from old skool to new skool at next month’s shindig showcasing to our ever faithful scrinsers one of Europes most freshest and exciting talents that is making waves across the continent.
It is with great delight that we managed to pin down and welcome to the darkened dungeon the formidable French kid that is UNDERGROUND PARIS!!!
This chap has been noticed because everyone in the last year became sick of the over hyped over promoted, polished, same week in week out DJs and labels (You know who and what they are) and so most forward thinking club promoters stay ahead of the pack and look for what’s going on unnoticed in the scene but is still playing a major part and reeks of talent (Dana Ruh memory’s anybody?)
He is the mastermind behind the exceptional record label titled “My Love is undergroundâ€. A vinyl only label that although doesn’t hype itself up in the modern spotlight (Much like it’s cool owner and founder) sells out of every vinyl release it puts out within the first week of issue and is mother proud of over 9 top selling releases in just two years and the most recent baby being snapped up and cleared out from record stores in less than 12 hours.
This young lad at the tender age of 23 has come through the ranks playing at the back street raves based in the Parisian suburbs showcasing his technical mixing capabilities on the vinyl format of old, a method of mixing he will always stick with because this kid is a typical hard-core vinyl junkie whom boasts a collection of 5000 + house music records.
With such a house music education, he has developed a deep and very special taste for underground house music, and has specialized into it in a big way. What gives UNDERGROUND PARIS a unique sound is the fact the boy has a bundle of classic forgotten records from throughout the 90’s which were ahead of their time and mixes them up with modern day releases which gives the crowd a chance to listen and move to the finest old school tunes that, basically, you have no chance to hear anywhere else. (These are not old school tunes what you would hear on any retro or old Skool compilation these are forgotten underground gems mixed up with modern day pioneering records)
We had better stop taking about this artist now because he doesn’t like the flimflam he just gets on with doing what he does and does it well and if you don’t believe us then get yourselves down to see and hear for yourselves at our next party and you will once again have the best night out in the Boro for the month.
Our guests playing upstairs this month are the outfit responsible for the warehouse party’s in Hull and a group of lads that have been going for around five years, if you haven’t heard of them then you are obviously not in touch with the scene as much as you should and should barge your way past the wall of overhype to go deep and find out whats really going on. These are The infamous Different Language parties, utilising unique outdoor & warehouse spaces for raving purposes and have grown into one of the North's most original and respected underground parties attracting some of the scenes finest including Nick Curly, Dyed Soundorom, Sebo K, Audiojack, Simon Baker, Shonky, and many more.
Different Language have released credible underground music on Italy-based Radioactiva Records and London labels Electric Sheep and Black Sheep Trax gaining support from the likes of Slam, Richie Hawtin, Terry Francis, Perc, Wolf+Lamb, Chloe Harris, Fergie, Lee Pennington, Steve Mac, X-Press 2, and many more.
So you will be in for a right treat in whichever room you find yourself plopping into like a plopper.
Our residents will all be on duty as always doing their thing around the guests this includes Kristoffer and Milhouse as well as Lee Pennington of the Zoo Project, Phil Stirzaker of Static Audio and Gow of Zoo Project.
Limited tickets for this will be on sale from Friday 10th February, get in early if you don’t want to get left out in the cold and miss out on yet another outstanding party.
