Recognized around the world for its vital contributions to the development of House music, Chicago is renowned for musical innovation and solidarity in the eyes of the international electronic music community. With the combined talents of veteran DJs Mazi and Kate Simko, along with promoter Nadia Podolsky of VOLATL, (re)Chicago has put the global eyes back on Chicago―helping the city re-assert itself through its visionary, collaborative event series, which launched in April 2010. Past guests include Three, Deetron, Jus-Ed, Chez Damier, Ryan Elliott, Adultnapper and more. After a Fall 2011 hiatus, the event series returns with Britain’s godfather of house and techno Eddie Richards at Crimson Lounge at the Hotel Sax on March 2, 2012. This is truly a legendary booking for VOLATL Events and a highly anticipated show.
Eddie Richards became a key figure in a new musical and cultural movement soon to explode worldwide. After playing at such influential and original underground clubs as Clink St. and Heaven in London and Manchester’s Hacienda, Eddie went on to headline the legendary UK parties Sunrise, Energy, and Helter Skelter, among countless others. Remix and production work led to the release of club classics like 1998’s“Acidman,” which hit the National Top 20, followed by other chart topping remixes of Ralphi Rosario, Orbital, and The Shamen. Since the mid-80s he has been included in virtually every book, documentary, and film on dance music culture. He is sought after all over the world for his flawless mix of deep bass-driven techno with soulful and tough tribal house, a format he has always maintained and a style that has made him the pioneer of what is now known as “tech-house.”
