ALEX PICONE (Cadenza rec./Bosconi rec.) (www.myspace.com/alexpicone)
Italian-born Alex Picone’s passion for deep analogue-sounding grooves is all consuming. Ever since he was a teenager, his whole life has been devoted to feeling, sharing and shaping hip-rolling house and techno. And, of course, it shows; whether he’s laying it down at top Italian clubs like Flow and il Muretto, or blasting it out in Berlin, where he’s now based, his ego-free approach to DJing attracts true underground party heads in droves. Alex (aka Alessandro Picone) was born and grew up in Padova, where he started DJing in the mid-90s – when he was just 15 years old. His skills quickly landed him regular slots at La Scala in Padova, and from there he began to organise his own house parties before bagging key residencies at Flow and il Muretto. Playing regularly to the clued-up crowds at these clubs, alongside such international talents as Luciano, Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos, added momentum to his musical evolution and later propelled him into the world of production. In 2004 Alex took his first steps as a producer, hooking up with Kay Sand (Francesco Sperotto) to form Chronic Flakes. Their tracks quickly earned respect from the likes of Alex Neri, who released two Chronic Flakes’ 12”s on Bustin’ Loose in 2005/6, prior to unleashing their groovy, loopy tech-house extravaganza, the Omnadawn EP, complete with a remix by Guido Schneider, on Tenax Recordings in 2007. Neri even included ‘Galicia’ from their EP on the 2008 il Muretto compilation mix. Picone was on a roll and, after spending some time in Ibiza, he finally adopted Berlin as his new home, a place from where he had drawn much inspiration. Here he built on an existing relationship with a fellow Italian in Berlin: Lucretio, the label manager of Detroit’s Mixworks. Lucretio had already been sending Alex's output to the mastermind of the Mixworks network, Buzz Goree, which led Alex to release ‘Berlin Dub’ as part of the Persistence EP – Mixworks’ debut release. He followed this up by returning to Mixworks as Chronic Flakes and releasing ‘Numalbix’, which came out on the Dance Tactics EP (the label’s second project). 2008 furthermore saw Alex release his first full EP as a solo artist, Furby Floppy, on Luciano’s Cadenza Records. This won him nods from both peers and press, and ‘Floppy’ went on to feature on Luciano’s Fabric 41 mix, while the slow-burning ‘Berlin Dub’ was included on Âme’s Fabric 42. Around this time Alex also became involved with AltaVoz, a collective/event that nurtures the development of electronic music in Italy, where he DJed with such artists as Carl Craig, Onur Ozer and Vincent Lemieux. Bringing a warmer, more human feeling to mixing than many of his contemporaries, Alex has now played at such clubs as the aptly named Underground in Ibiza and Fabric in London. As well as at Cadenza showcases around Europe, from Cocoon Club and Watergate in Germany to the buzzing Black Sea Coast of Romania. He also felt firsthand the force of Underground Resistance when he visited the US for the first time to play a couple of sets in Detroit during Movement DEMF 2009. First at a Mixworks’ party, alongside Buzz Goree, Mike Servito and several other real deal DJs, then at an after-hours hosted by the irrepressible Seth Troxler. 2009 sees Alex continue to explore a subterranean landscape of beats through his groove-ridden Motherland EP out on Bosconi Records, and a third cut for Mixworks called ‘No Kiss’, which has already been supported by heavyweights like Luciano, Hawtin, Villalobos and Raresh. Alex is also planning another EP, based around his ‘Mon Amour’ track, complete with an exceptional remix from Chris Carrier. Then there’s another Chronic Flakes collaboration, this time for Mike Shannon’s Cynosure imprint. Not to mention fresh material born of his friendship with Argentinian adventurer Ernesto Ferreyra. Music. Playing it, producing it, and making it happen, for the true heads. This is the fuel that ignites the passion of Picone. A life lived for, and through, music.

Fabio della Torre is the founder of Bosconi records and with his friend, Ennio Colaci, he is producing and appearing under the project name Minimono.
Today Fabio is a central figure in the evolution of electronic music in Italy, always bringing freshness and innovation, whether he is performing live with Ennio, or spinning records. In 1995, introduced to electronic music, captured by the DJ culture, Fabio bought turntables and began his adventure as disc jockey. Short after this he inaugurated ‘Mint’, a night at the prestigious Tenax club in Florence, whose music policy is focused on experimental techno. Thank to his studies he moved to Berlin in 2000-2001. After witnessing the boom of German labels like Bpitch Control and Pokerflat, fascinated by new electronic sounds, Fabio returned to Florence and founded BerlinMitteGroup collective, promoting the ‘Berlin-Electro’ weekly party at Florence Ex-Mud club. Season2002 2003 was very important for him, becaming resident at Ex-Mud and a part of the RedBullHomeGroove DJ team. In that period he started playing alongside with artists like Ellen Allien, Luomo, Sasha Funke and more. Further and important developments of Fabio’s artistic profile were achieved by him in 2004-05, when he founded the continuous event called ‘Werk’ in Florence, supporting some of the biggest representatives in the innovative techno/house scene, international names such as Jay Haze, Mathew Jonson, Luciano, Krikor and majesty Daniel Bell. In the same season Fabio started the collaboration with electronic producer Ennio Colaci, forming the project Minimono. In 2005-06, he released his first production with David C. under the name “Fabio della Torre” followed by Magenta EP on Tenax records. Minimono also took off releasing for Tenax, Telegraph, Tuningspork, Ethique and love letters from Oslo. More recent is his collaboration with his friend Mattako with who he is doing the project QuiTFruT. They had releases on Telegraph and Bosconi. As a DJ, Fabio has developed a style where electronic meets dub and Detroit techno, where house, disco and funk blend together, shaping a deep and often unpredictable atmosphere. Passing from one style to another through brilliant mixes and smooth taste, Fabio’s set can bring you to very original moments on the dancefloor with suspense, feelings and warmness…! For many years he is regularly spinning records at the famous Italian club Tenax along side biggest djs in the world like Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Zip and Daniel Bell.. and has been playing in some of the best International venues like Berlin Panorama Bar, Rex in paris and DC10 Ibiza.

SAN PROPER (Perlon/Rash hour/Bosconi rec.) (www.myspace.com/sanproper)
San Proper is a well respected DJ from the Amsterdam underground club scene. Over the last fifteen years, he has been spinning in all the major clubs, bars and lounges, in and around Holland. You’ll hear him play at most of the major Summer and Dance festivals (San has a residency at Europe's top Summer festival, Lowlands) as well as the more dodgy and underground locations. He's known and praised for his House & Disco sets, but also for blending a lot of different styles into an eclectic mix, which results in him playing at various spots. In Amsterdam, San proudly presented “The Black Disco Bust” - a club-night that, throughout the years, has gained a cult-status with some international DJs being featured (i.e. Daniel Wang, Alton Miller, Kalabrese, Trus'me). The Black Disco Bust is all about preserving the true sound of old school underground Disco music... He's also one of the four heads behind "Italo Elite", a club-night which contributes to the Italo-cult of Amsterdam, together with Tom Trago, Lupe & Martin Duvall. In 2007, San teamed up with a fresh organization entitled Dekmantel founded by Casper Tielrooij & Thomas Martojo, to celebrate, to preserve & to arouse innovating House music. This crew has been breaking records, in a figure of speech... In 1998, together with Alan Luna he founded “Choque” -a club-night about the deeper and warmer sound of quality House music. He’s been organising these programs at top Amsterdam clubs like Mazzo, Bitterzoet, Club 11, Sugar Factory and more. After 2000, San got to play at a lot of special club-nights & parties by Rush Hour. Held at locations like Zuid-as/Rush Hour Select & Paradiso/Paradisco2000 they've really set the tone for quality underground in the city of Amsterdam. Through Rush Hour's events San got to play sets with heroes like Larry Heard, Boo Williams, Octave One, Carl Craig, Urban Tribe, Rick Wilhite a.o.. San Proper started out as a guitar player. He played with several bands in the live circuit where he gained a lot of experience in music. In ’95 he founded “The Mindmenders”, a Funk/Hip hop band, which eventually won ‘De Grote prijs van Nederland’ in ’99, an annual award-show for upcoming artists. He left the band straight after, to focus more on solo production work and his career as a DJ. Today he’s collaborating with Amsterdam’s finest producers like Melon, Tom Trago, O-Boogie, Yuro, Steven de Peven, the Bootleg Bitches, Meikbar, 'De Schepper' aka Overlast, Young Marco, Aroy Dee and others and is releasing on Amsterdam's very own top label Rush Hour.
In January 2007 he started releasing his "Proper A'dam Family Series" with artists like these. 'Part 4' with O-Boogie got picked up by Laurent Garnier who did an edit of 'Magnificent Speech Funk' for Rush Hour.
Proper remixed Ricardo Villalobos on Perlon with a track entitled 'Electonic Water- It ate my quarter' which was released in May 2008. He's also been releasing on Soulrock records together with Steven de Peven: 'Hupsers & Kletsers for Life!', and doing Disco-edits as St. Propre on Raw Meat records in the spring of 2009. In august his first 12" on Perlon was released which includes the tracks 'December 10th' & 'Keep it raw'. This 12" reached the number 1 position in the Groove-charts for November & December 2009. In this period San put together a solo-live-show playing & integrating several live instruments with his digital live-set-up which he presented during Amsterdam Dance Event with impressive critics in the local papers and massive inspiration for a new show... Redevice followed with San Proper's 'Heroes & Horse EP', which is available through a free download at www.redevice.com
At the end of February 2010 San did his first new live-show with Tom Trago as The Dirt Machine at the 'Source On Ice'-festival, together with Tom he's been working on the album since 2008. HERVA (Bosconi rec.) (www.myspace.com/herva)
Herve Atsè Corti aka Herva was born in 1991 and he was surrounded by music from the beginning thanks to his family. In his home town he made a reputation of himself since high school as a very talented drummer. Growing up with r&b, hip hop and soul listenings, few years ago he got sick for more disco vibes and electronic sounds: discovering first Aphex Twin and then house music and techno, he approached djing with his cousin's 1200 technics and decided to start making his own club music with a laptop and a midi controller…the result was so surprising that we got crazy for his early productions, so mental to realize how a so young italian producer with a so basic equipment and young background could have ever made so powerful, soulful and well-produced music as what you're going to listen soon, on Bosconi Records. The guy has got the right skills, look after him, he's the youngest italian talent to watch at the moment, as we never had in italy before....
MARCO D’AQUINO (Bosconi rec.)
20 years old Marco D'Aquino is born in a small village in the south of Florence.
At the age of 15 he already starts to get completely hooked on with house music. When 17, feeling the need of expressing himself through music composition, he start an intensive activity of house tracks production, influenced by oldschool dirty jackinʼ chicago house and detroit techno. Sending his material around the globe heʼs soon getting good response from both the underground scene as well from more popular djs, and his tracks start being played from djs like Chez Damier, Matthias Tanzmann, Raresh, D'Julz, Ilario alicante, and many others. Thanks to the collaboration with the talended producer Mass Prod, Marco develops his sound and his skills in blending dirty drum sounds, nice melodies and smart vocal samples together, combining everything with an innate sense of groove and getting out of his production a real massive sound. Then Marco knows Fabio della Torre, Bosconi Records label manager and together they can find a formula for his first EP on Bosconi Extra Virgin. The output is a success, one of the tracks are remixed by English producer Mark E and the disc gets an excellent response at national and international leading Marco to play his first gigs at parties and the first local celebration of prestige as Privada, Tenax and Link. Thanks to the collaboration with his friend Herva founded the live project, Life's Track, "Old-New School" as they like to call it. Drum machines and vintage synthsi lead to the creation of 8 tracks that are placed on two EPs on Bosconi Records. Lately Marco with the pseudonym "Dukwa" is moving towards more experimental productions. His new live set is disruptive, unpredictable!
