Get ready to be infected with jungle fever as coming up this March 17 direct from London to Laundry comes the pioneer of Jungle DnB in a special Saturday night set in the Cave—APHRODITE—whilst in the Laundry DJ Veteran KID KENOBI smashes a set and up and comer’s WHAT SO NOT launch their brand spanking new EP!
Gavin King, aka the 'Godfather of jungle', aka the 'King of the Beats', aka DJ APHRODITE is responsible for introducing, entertaining and moving millions of Drum and Bass fans across the globe with his jump-up style jungle, a sparse, high-energy offshoot of drum'n'bass designed for maximum dancefloor impact. Aphrodite’s discography is cluttered with chart-topping jump-up tracks, with his 1999 ‘Aphrodite’ album released on V2 Records selling over four times what Baby Spice scraped. From Shanghai to Rio, UK to USA, Sydney to Cape town, Moscow to South Korea, Aphrodite’s travels are far reaching and is in constant demand to spread his own good strong dance vibe from clubs to large festivals and finally to Chinese Laundry!
Headlining the Laundry bill in this night of genre bending bangers is KID KENOBI, whose side project ‘Too Fresh’ has recently been burning up big with their ‘Hotel Party’ tune sitting on #5 on the Aria charts, and with a slew of remixes for Bombs Away, Doctor Werewolf and Surecut Kids plus a new compilation cd currently in the works.
The Laundry will also feature WHAT SO NOT, aka Emoh Instead & Flume, as they launch their latest EP ‘The Hype’ which has already been donned by Major Lazer front man Switch as “One of the best things I’ve been sent recently”, as well as getting playtime on Triple J and FBI radio.
