Now Then Manchester
Now Then Manchester and My First Moth present a label showcase featuring live hip hop and soulful electronica from Neko Neko and WhoAmI & Trebor with DJ sets from DJ Mischief and The Natural Curriculum’s Omas and Aver. Neko Neko will be joined by Najia Bagi of The Electronic Exchange for a special new collaborative performance.
Electronic music samples virtuoso Neko Neko performs his first live set since the release of his latest sold-out single, ‘Trouble In The Streets’ / ‘Ya Playin’ Ya Self’, via My First Moth Records. In the past Neko Neko has taken on the ambitious task of reimagining the Pink Floyd classic album Dark Side of the Moon by producing the soulful Orange Side of the Moon and further proved his knack for creative production ideas with an album of remixes from old Reader’s Digest tapes. He’s also active in remixing the songs of his peers and for this show he’ll be joined onstage by Najia Bagi from The Electronic Exchange whose second single through the Concrete Moniker label features his glitchy beats.
My First Moth label founding member and boss DJ Mischief is responsible for many of the early MFM releases, producing remixes of De La Soul and J-Live followed by based around samples fusing jazz and hip hop with beats aimed to move your feet and nod your head. He’ll select some records to spin for a DJ set at this show.
