Brassroots, Pocket Billiards
Under the banner of DSNT LIVE, prolific local promoters DSNT, known for their eclectic taste in bookings, bring their latest incarnation of captivating and forward thinking live performances to Belfast’s esteemed Empire Music Hall on Sunday 18th March with the stunning 8-piece horn and percussion ensemble Brassroots, with support from the Pocket Billiards.
Formed late in the Autumn of 2008 somewhere in the hip backstreets of East London, the musical troupe are set to quite literally huff, puff and blow the roof off the Empire with their incredible brass-band interpretations of popular classics. Skipping through renditions of everything from Beyoncé’s Crazy In Love to Gnarls Barkley's Crazy, the band are known for skilfully weaving through genres, hurtling off on tangents, in the direction of Dick Dale's Miserlou, Radiohead's Karma Police and, most majestically, Bowie's Let's Dance.
The group have hosted absolute knock-out shows to sold out audiences at Scala King's Cross, Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Festibelly as well as an incredible seven shows at the Isle of Wight’s haloed festival, Bestival.
Brassroots have continued to blaze a trail through the music scene, earning radio play on BBC Radio 1 with Rob da Bank and Gilles Peterson, Magic and Choice FM as well as forming a key musical cornerstone to Mr Scruff’s DJ sets.
With this show guaranteed to be a sell out and eclectic future bookings already in the pipeline, DSNT LIVE is on track to change the way you experience and appreciate live music. Not one to miss.
