It's a party worth traveling for, the May 1st holiday in Germany. Especially since it's this years start of Kiesgrube, renowned open air techno event near Neuss and traditionally an exciting part of the May 1st festivities.

Staying true to this tradition Kiesgrube has invited an international DJ eminence and techno legend. Performances by this, up till now mystery guest turned out to be highlights in the Kiesgrube history and proved once again why he can be seen as one of the best DJs of the last two decades. This first 2012 edition of Kiesgrube nobody less than Carl Cox will be headlining!

A performance supported by Kiesgrube's good friend and number one Italian DJ: Marco Carola. Everytime he's come to Neuss for one of his undeniable sets he knew how to conquer the audience in a blink of an eye. After shaping the early days of techno with labels like Design Music, Zenit and Question, the M-nus and Plus-8 artist is now on the verge of breaking a new label, Music On. Without a doubt Carola will be showcasing some first glimpes from the imprint this May 1st holiday...

A day that will be opened by another veteran in the scene, longtime Cocoon hero Tobi Neumann. In total bringing together loads of DJ experience behind the decks this first of May. Let's see what happens when this bundle of energy finds its way to the dancefloor!

KIESGRUBE 2012 SEASON
Earlier the complete line-up of Kiesgrube's 2012 season was announced, a series of events from May till September. Expect the following names to make an appearance: Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, Carl Cox, Luciano, Marco Carola, Dubfire, John Digweed, Chris Liebing, tINI, Henrik Schwarz, Monika Kruse, Pan-Pot, Dixon, Steve Lawler, Martin Buttrich, Guti, Nic Fanciulli, Reboot, Magda, Livio & Roby, Davide Squillace, Matthias Tanzmann, Mathias Kaden, Damian Lazarus, The Martinez Brothers, Tobi Neumann, Kiki, Yousef, Hector, Robert Dietz, Martinez, Markus Fix, Daniel Taylor, Khaan, Vincent Abbo.

Die einen tanzen klassisch in der Walpurgisnacht in den Mai. Andere hingegen tanzen nonstop den ganzen 1. Maifeiertag lang, von morgens bis abends, um den Monat willkommen zu heißen. Die Kiesgrube trägt sicher eine nicht zu verleugnende Mitverantwortung an dieser Entwicklung, zählt der Maitanz doch schon fest zur Tradition des Neusser Open Airs.

Um diese entsprechend zu pflegen, wurde für die diesjährige Ausgabe am Dienstag, den 1. Mai eine internationale DJ-Koryphäe und Technolegende eingeladen. Die Auftritte unseres vorerst noch geheimen Gasts zählten stets zu den Highlights der Kiesgrube Saison und waren darüber hinaus der beste Beweis dafür, warum eine Platzierung unter die besten DJs der Welt seit zwei Jahrzehnten nicht von ungefähr kommt. Bis zur offiziellen Bekanntgabe unseres Ehrengasts am 23. April darf fleißig geraten werden.

Unterstützung kommt von einem weiteren guten alten Bekannten und engen Freund der Kiesgrube: Italiens Techno-DJ Nr. 1 MARCO CAROLA. Wann immer er für eines seiner unverkennbaren Sets nach Neuss kam, war ihm die Crowd im Nu ergeben. Nachdem er mit Design Music, Zenit und Question schon in frühen Technotagen erfolgreich eigene Labels betrieben hat, steht der langjährige M-nus und Plus 8 Artist gerade kurz vor dem Start seines neuen Labels „Music On“, von dem er sicher die ein oder andere Veröffentlichung an diesem Tag zum Besten geben wird.

Eröffnet wird dieser Tag schließlich von Szeneveteran und Cocoon-Künstler der ersten Stunde TOBI NEUMANN. Somit stehen an diesem May Dance Special etliche Jahrzehnte geballte DJ Erfahrung an den Decks. Wir sind gespannt was passiert, wenn sich diese Energien auf der Tanzfläche bündeln.
