EGG 2012 - Arm-egg-edon. The amazing egg painting competition!
A charity fundraiser with all proceeds to C.A.L.M - Campaign Against Living Miserably
Established in 2004, this annual Easter Sunday music and arts event combines the sounds of some of Manchesters best underground clubnights and DJs - specialising in bass driven electronic dance music - with the talent of transforming eggs into incredible works of art. Over the years the winning eggs and some condenters have been complete masterpieces. From cigarette smoking ladies, Hitcher from the Mighty Boosh to Eggy 'The Eagle' Eggwards and Bar-egg Obama. The winner from 2011 - Reservoir Eggs was a classic!! All created using a hard boiled egg and the materials supplied. Back in 2005 second place was tragically eaten in a horrific scene of serious... eggs-termination!
This year the annual one and only amazing egg painting competition returns to Joshua Brooks, taking control over the basement.
The music for this years egg-stravaganza will be supplied by the following deck-technicians -
Fiona 'Lil Fee' Daniel is going to be dropping by to whip the crowd into a frenzy with her bag of wicked electro/indie/house music to shake your bones too... let's all get wired together!
KJs (Kiss My Bass)
KJs formerly the Knob Jockeys are three DJs, producers and remixers who blend electro, house, bass, dubstep, pop and craziness into a mix that you’ll just have to love...they never fail the get the party jumping! KJs tunes get Support from Kissy Sell Out and Rusko with radio play on Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
STEVE THORPE (Tangled Breaks)
Steve Thorpe has been spinning breaks and basslines now in Manchester for over 15 years. Having turned the top floor of the legendary Tangled into its own Tangled Breaks brand. Steve continued pushing the breakbeat sound onto his own night Carry On which has now progressed into the brilliant beats and bass night, Lowdown & Dirty at Sound Control
RESISTANCE (Lowdown & Dirty)
Craig Whittaker has been forging his name and sound on Manchesters clubscene for over 5 years now with his unique tech-funk, electro breakbeat style sets and running the increasingly popular Lowdown & Dirty clubnight. Applauded by Elite Force and Meat Katie, Craig sets the Lowdown & Dirty dancefloor on fire each month when he plays.
Breakthru has been making serious waves on Manchesters clubscene recently with his own brand of 'future jungle'. Wherever he plays the crowd is always rocking to his monstrous beats, heavy bass and euphoric melodies.
Martyn Breaksjunky is what it says on the tin... a breaksjunky. Influenced by Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts and Plump DJs, you can expect a brilliant party set from this breakbeat fiend.
Nick is a talented young DJ that has great potential. His seemless mixes combine techno, electronica and broken beats into a grooving mix of dancefloor mayhem... this guy is one to watch.
As with previous events all DJs are offering their services for free so that all the proceeds can be donated to charity. This years chosen charity is C.A.L.M. - Capaign Against Living Miserably, whose aim is to reduce the shocking fact that suicide is the biggest killer of males under the age of 35 in the UK.
