On Saturday March 24th, after two months of DIY remodeling done entirely by the group’s own yogis, artists and designers, the Body Actualized Center in Bushwick will have its Grand Opening. The event will open at 4pm with a ribbon cutting as a celebration of the hard work and actualization of a safe space for the creative spiritual community.

Body Actualized began in 2009 as a group of people who produced yoga parties on the roof of the notorious DIY venue Market Hotel run by Todd P. The events featured the Body Actualized trademark Cosmic Yoga which invites local and international musicians to play a yogi-centric set during the class. Some past acts include Prince Rama, Driphouse, Teengirl Fantasy,La Big Vic and other artists that work synthesizers and electronic manipulation into their sound.

The Body Actualized Center is the dream collaboration of nine artists and yogis. The goal being to provide an arts and leisure experience of a distinctly higher order, one which offers aesthetic stimulation as well as spiritual nourishment. BAC is a 1200 sq/ft converted welding shop that features high ceilings with skylights, a fully equipped kitchen for living food preparation, four artist studios, and an expansive backyard featuring a fire pit, roof deck and plants galore. Birthed from the desire to have a sanctuary amid the noise and grime of New York City, BAC is a home for yoga, dance music, conversation, and experimentation in the arts and within our lives.

Music is essential to the Body Actualized Center experience therefore our opening day will showcase indoor and outdoor sets by some of our favorite artists including Future Shuttle, Lorna Dune, SFV Acid (Not Not Fun/LA), Featurless Ghost (Atlanta), and Jonas Reihnhardt (Not Not Fun). We will have coals hot for a bbq feast and raw food selections from our chefs shared throughout the day. The space will vibrate freely and transition into an all night dance party with resident Vibes Management DJ, Jan Woo. There will be a special visual collaboration by notable video artists Aurora Halal, Jorge Torrens, and Aaron Katsnelson, climaxing with an interactive yoga dance green screen performance soundtracked by Gatekeeper’s Aaron David Ross.
