Diego cK Family
(MALATOID records)
DIEGO FAVA - aka Diego cK - was born in Napoli in 1974!
Grew up with his own turntable and his own records since he was 5 years old!
At the age of 15 he organised his first party on 1989 NYE, his first gig as a dj mixing with "emergency" equipment made of a turntable and a tape recorder. From then on his major target became to guarantee his friends and public were having fun, no matter what!
He started in the underground scene as a promoter organising parties at Le Dune complex in Napoli between 1994 and 1997. During that time a whole array of big djs such as Rino Cerrone, MarcoCarola, Dr. Jazz, Mario Piu, Ricky le Roy, Stefano Noferini, Alessandro de Cilia, Eros Baldinotti, Roby J, Damon Wild, Christian Hornboster, Zen Paradox aka Steve Lawer, David Holmes, Sonic (X-Press) played there.
In 1998 Diego cK became a professional dj and started to play in various clubs in Napoli alongside djs like Dave Camacho and Marshall Jefferson. He also had a few gigs in south Italy and Jaiss in Empoli for Metempsicosi, where he played alongside Joy Kiticonti.
What can we say about his music?
At the time it was a mix between progressive house, tech-house and minimal techno.
It is only in August 2002, after organizing and playing at two editions of the Free Energy Party in Caserta (Old River Club) that he started to consider moving to London.
Inspired by the 20 djs from London like Chris Liberator, Geezer, Sterling Moss, that played acid techno at the party, he met with the promoter of the festival -Marcolino- and thanks to him managed to play for the first time at the George Four in Brixton -London-.
In the summer of 2003 he finally moved to London where he started to play in small bars and clubs while in the summer of 2004 cK FAMILY was born in Camden Town starting from a friend house party every last Thursday of the month in Diego's own flat!!!
A big step forward took place in March 2005 when he became resident at Club Aquarium in East London thanks to promoter Fabio Sberla. Diego rediscovered slower BPM and started to become interested in electro music. The duo partnership took them on the river Thames where they started the famous and long talked about boat party...
The breakthrough came when Diego met Dj MV Porter, who introduced him to Nick and Kelly, the managers of Factory Club. From April 2006 Factory became the cK Family’s official empire, residence & home of the most crazy famous mid-week after party in London ( Up to 5 parties a week going on till 10am )!
Together with his carismatic girlfriend Naty cK, Diego started Deesfactory. Deesfactory continued to develope itself to become a must for many clubbers and djs alike. In the meantime the music changed as well as cK’s elecktro is full of modern minimal and melodic sounds with a deep base that makes it sound warm, sexy and hypnotic, almost like poetry.
From August 2009 cK FAMILY moved DeeSfactory to Club Union -a better and more intimate Venue for its sound pumped every week by Diego and his right hand - and amazing solo artist - Dj Marco Baldassarre (He released on Malatoid Records the first cK FAMILY EP together with Diego cK and Joseph Petrin).
DeeSfactory has moved again...and what a move people!
For 2010 move Diego picked up just one of the most famous and beloved venues in Europe...Club FIRE!
Tnx to club FIRE Diego managed to start a collaboration with DC7 running parties at THE LIGHTBOX and later on at THE EGG.
In 2009 he also started RePlay, a successful party at THE DEN & CENTRO where he played alongside the most important Londoner's resident djs.
Nonetheless Diego is also one of Antiworld's resident djs (Antiworld has been one of the major names in the London and UK's goa/psy-trance scene and hard techno).
Just to mention some clubs and events where cK Family run a party or hosted a room or where Diego cK just played:... In the 2011 he moved to Tenerife where he is spreading the cK concept and sound in the island.
In February 2012 he organized the first edition of teCKarnival, a successful no-stop 3 days festival in beaches and clubs of Tenerife.
