We are massively proud to be given the blessing to host an infamous Rephlex Records party.
For the uninitiated, Rephlex was established by Richard D James aka Aphex Twin and Grant Wilson-Claridge in 1991 and, during its 21 year existence, has released some of the most amazing, genre defying, mind bending electronic music ever made. Think Squarepusher, AFX, Luke Vibert, Drexciya and many more ...
In conjunction with the Rephlex management, we have selected two live acts – Monolith and Aleksi Perala – who are considered to be amongst THE outstanding label talents to represent the braindance ethos in 2012. Monolith’s album ‘Welcome’ received great plaudits earlier in the year, whilst Perala will be previewing his new material and the next full length Rephlex release (‘mental sub bass and pure harmonics like mother nature’s dub’).
As a special one-off treat, Sherard Ingram aka DJ Stingray is jetting in from Detroit to take up the realms as the trusted Rephlex selector. Stingray made his name as the DJ for the legendary Drexciya, but is now also a production collaborator with Gerald Donald and a core member of the Urban Tribe project, which has seen two full length releases on Rephlex and counts Carl Craig, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir and Kenny Dixon Jr (Moodymann) as members. Expect a quickfire mix of electro bass and techno, alongside some bonifide Rephlex classics.
An Edinburgh first on all counts, unmissable!
