Men want to be them, woman can’t help but dance to them and DJ’s & producers are literally queuing up to work with them: their names are KRAFTY KUTS and PEO DE PITTE, and Chinese Laundry are proud to present these two living legends of dance music this April 28 in another epic instalment of Garden Parties at the Ivy Courtyard.
From 12 Midday to 7pm, the Ivy will play host to two of the hottest names in Breakbeat, Hip Hop and Electronic music, directly followed by the Chinese Laundry afterparty with the US born brain child of badass beats, DERRICK MAY.
When you enter a DJ'ing competition, having never DJ'd before, and get to the finals, you know you must have chosen the right career path. KRAFTY KUTS—one of the world’s most recognisable sound makers in break beat-was born, aged 12. So far in a glittering career Krafty has gained dance music’s top accolades including Best International DJ at the Australian Dance Music Awards, Breakspoll’s Face of Breaks 2003 and Best Breaks DJ at the M8 Ibiza awards 2006, in only his first year as a resident on the white isle. A stunning haul at Breakspoll 2007 saw him claiming Best Album for his debut long player ‘Freakshow’, Best DJ for a record third consecutive year and to cap it off, the richly deserved Outstanding Contribution to Breakbeat award that acknowledged his long journey to the acme of club culture. Having been responsible for the massively successful Finger Lickin' Funk EP, remixes of Flint and 2inDaBush, asked to DJ regularly at the biggest clubs and festivals around the globe, and with his unparalleled funky sound and tricky turntable tricks, its safe to say he’ll be staying on top for years to come.
Born in Sweden but having relocated to London, PEO DE PITTE has been cooking up a storm with his original production; remix work and his late night, hands-up-heads-down DJ sets. His hailed remix of ‘Riverside’ by Sidney Samson has so far clocked up over 100,000 downloads, and his trademark combination of big room beats and cutting edge synth’s has made Peo one of the most exciting new producers to emerge since IKEA. With remixes and releases on labels such as U&A, Enchufada, Vicious and Global Underground, it is no surprise that he has won huge support from some of the dance worlds biggest acts like Afrojack, Laidback Luke, Crookers & Steve Aoki, as well as being invited for radio interviews on BBC Radio 1 and Kiss100. He has toured Australia and America playing to full capacity venues, slammed shows all around Europe and endless clubs in the UK such as Fabric, The Egg and Ministry of Sound, and also dropped a very special VIP set at one of UK’s biggest festivals; Global Gathering.
