Lady Blacktronika (USA)
We are very happy to announce the special guests for our beloved Loving Deep party - Lady Blacktronika (USA) and Matt Pond (Brighton, UK). Joined by residents Jade Seatle and Le Jorge, expect nothing but a night full of quality underground house music.
In 1997 she hooked up with dj friend Mattski who gave her first taste of music production doing vocals on numerous unreleased house tracks with him. Frustrated with "the boys not letting [her] play with their toys" she began trying her hand at house music and techno production in 2006, producing Beatdown tracks inspired by such Detroit greats as Theo Parrish, Moodymann, and Norma Jean Bell.
In early '07 Mike Huckaby discovered her on Myspace. He introduced her to a global audience on a Detroit radio broadcast. She released her first single shortly there after on Deep Explorer in September of '07.
She infuses experiences from her past in gritty street life while bringing a woman's sensitivity and emotion to the Beatdown genre and Chicago influenced House music.
Matt discovered house music in the early 90′s after years of experimenting dj’ing various styles. Castle Morton free festival was a turning point, where dj’s Digs & Woosh and Simon DK of the infamous DIY sound systems opened Matt’s ears to the sounds of deep and electronic house music from classic labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Bottom Line and Nu-Groove. In the late 90′s Matt moved south to Brighton and became resident at Fluid Groove, one of Brighton’s longest running house music club nights, it was here that he had the opportunity to DJ with such legends as Joshua, Charles Webster, DJ Rasoul, DIY, Jef-K and Atjazz to name a few. It was also around this time that he set up Audio Lounge, a small specialist record store. As we moved into the 2000′s, Matt turn to production, teaming up with Dom Thompson and Jon Gray to become part of BitterSuite, during which dj’ing took a back seat. After a few years of learning the ropes BitterSuite then started collaborating with fellow West Country house heads BRS and The Rurals, and a string of remixes then followed on the Digi-Peng label (as well as one off remixes for Friends & Families and Flat and Round). In 2006 Matt set up DeepSystems, a two weekly radio show on the now defunct FearOfMusicRadio.com, In conjunction to the radio show a string of underground parties followed where Matt hooked up with legends like Boo Williams, Glenn Underground, Anthony Nicholson, Alton Miller and DJ Deep, booking out small private venues as opposed to clubs, with superior sound and music quality.
