After smashing the live scene in the North West for the last 2 years, Santiago Street Machine have teamed up with some of Manchester heavy weights to host a unique night of film, live music and DJs. This is a celebration of Manchester music - we're going to be moving through the tempos and setting the standard for the bank holiday weekend!
HeavyFeet, the radio presenting music producers from Manchester. They've been tearing up floors across Europe for years and they show no sign of slowing down, with up coming dates at Park Life, Wake Stock and The Egg. High profile remixes for the likes of Skepta, Roisin Murphy and DJ Zinc set the scene for 2011 with recent signings of their original work to Plant Music (US), Champion Records (UK) and Yes Yes Records (Australia). Recently coming off the back fo a stint at BBC 1Xtra and a latest smash single release "Back Foot", expect heavy house, garage and bass-driven breaks.
SILVER, PROPHECY, SONIC, MICROCOSM, IKEE B, & host MC LONGMAN (NORTH BASE) have been part of the Manchester scene from the early beginnings of dance music. Having all started making music and promoting parties back in early 1998, plus making smash hits for massive labels in the business, the lads have gone on to do bigger and better things in the world of bass music and so forth. SONIC & SILVER being world famous DJs and producers for labels such as Matel Headz, Virus, Infrared, Defected, Renegade Hardware, Soul:R, and his own label Nemesis Recordings Digital, they've toured different countries on a regular basis to USA, South America, Europe and Asia. Prophecy is one of the biggest promoters in Europe. Creating parties like Metropolis, Reclaim The Dance Floor, Wax:On, Illusion, Hde Out Festival, Park Life, Warehouse Project, Global Gathering and is also a big name DJ around the world. Nominated 3rd place in this years National DnB Awards as "Best Break through Producers", North Base are being supported by the likes of Skream & Benga, Mista Jam, Annie Mac, Redlight, N-Type, Hatch, Subfocus, Mary-Anne Hobbs, Mike Pickering, Jack Beats, Juan Basshead. Expect 140bpm and heavy beats.
With recent support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Intro and 1Xtra, Picture Book are ripping venues to pieces with their live AND DJ sets, having just released their first commercial EP 'At Last' in January 2012. The four track EP was co-written and recorded with Grammy nominated vocalist Greta Svabo Bech, who featured on Deadmau5's 'Raise Your Weapon'. Working closely with the likes of super hot French DJ & producer 'Hugo Leclercq’ and Dan Grech (The Vaccines, Lana Del Rey), it's no surprise that Picture Book are getting the plaudits they deserve. With some huge shows to be announced soon, it's a massive chance to catch them in Manchester. Expect electro, house and club beats with and heavy dose of live tribal influences.
Santiago Street Machine are fast becoming one of the most promising electronic bands in the country right now, and certainly one of the best live examples. After supporting the likes of Metronomy, Gallops and Hot Chip, festivals and club nights a like have started to take note, with Lee Fest, Pride and Euro Cultured all standing to attention. Huge support from Xfm, Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing, John Kennedy and Mary-Anne Hobbs has noticably increased their following. In terms of live dance music, there aren’t many doing it better than Santiago Street Machine. If there are any.
