NICKELLE: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nickelle/328379810549831?ref=ts
When it comes to underground DJs, Nickelle is one of the UK’s finest. No stranger to the scene both in the UK and internationally, she's built herself a solid reputation among the house and techno cognoscenti already – the wider recognition she so richly deserves must surely be soon to follow. Her DJ sets are resolutely upfront, in her words, “forward-thinking techno with bounce and soul†– yet every time she enters the booth you know she's also drawing on the extensive experience, record collection and understanding of working a floor, that only 18 years in the game can provide.
A native of the Lake District, Nickelle was first bitten by the dance music bug as a 15-year-old sneaking into nightclubs such as Vague in Leeds and the Arena in Middlesbrough. A couple of years later, armed only with a bag of records and a change of clothes she headed down to Brighton and never made it home, soon after she bagged her first residency, at the famous Honey Club. Barely out of her teens, she began to pick up gigs at other high profile UK clubs including Turnmills, Escape, The Zap and Ministry Of Sound. Since then, she's gone on to hold residencies at Fabric and The End in London (for DTPM and Jaded, respectively) and also at Chalet in Rome (where she played every month for three years). She's played just about every UK and European club worth talking about, High Tide - Southampton, Club Class - Maidstone, Eden - Ibiza, Canvas - London, Turnmills - London, Space - Bucharest, Ahead - Birmingham, Vortex - Vienna, The Cross - London, Mix - Dubai, Escape - Swansea... to name but a few, she has also delved into more diverse events, such as providing the sound for high end catwalk shows for clothing labels such as Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair NYC, and events such as official closing party to the Berlin Film Festival, undertaken regular major tours of the Far East headlining heavyweights such as Double Six - Bali, Stadium & Centro - Jakarta, Attica - Singapore, Drop - HK, Tomorrow - Zu Hai, hosted a monthly show on Ministry Of Sound radio, – and, of course, produced music of her own.
Working both on her own and with production partner Nessim Molder, Nickelle's productions and remixes have appeared on respected UK labels including Slip N' Slide (for whom she and Nessim remixed the De'Lacy classic Hideaway), Art & Craft and Dogmatik, as well as Italy's Rebirth and Spain's Iberican / Stereo. For the past couple of years, Nickelle has mostly been buried away in the studio, quietly honing her production skills. Citing the modern sound of Detroit as the major inspiration for her current work, she now has a raft of tracks ready to drop and is preparing for a relaunch, 2012 will also see the introduction of a new production alias focusing on the live aspect alongside her trademark DJ sets.
She'll also be spending a lot more time back on the road – armed only with her trusty macbook, a bag of classic vinyl and a unwavering determination to champion music from the heart, regardless of bandwagons and what the sheep are doing.
Expect to hear a lot more from this supremely talented, personable and hardworking DJ very soon…

Over the past few years Nat’s name has been on the flyer of almost every London party worth its salt. Influenced by heavyweights such as Luciano and Loco Dice her unique style of driving minimal house, blended with playful techno has seen her rock packed out floors alongside the likes of Booka Shade, Martin Landsky, Hearthrob, Jerome Sydenham, Silicone Soul, Dinky, Mr C, tINI, Guti to name a few. Nat’s residency at London Redlight Afterhours gave her a platform on which she built a reputation for consistently delivering the goods. Adding to this with slots at Booka Shade’s Album Launch, Jaded and upcoming gigs at Fabric’s WetYourSelf and Nozstock Festival, she has cemented her place as one of London’s rapidly rising stars.
Entering into promotion Nat, alongside fellow resident and co-promoter Ed Jones, created Mooch. Now in its third year Mooch is going from strength to strength and has carved out a niche for chunky, groove orientated tech-house in London’s thriving east end scene. Mooch is consistently recommended by Mixmag, Timeout and RA alongside its current home Basing House.
