No Dial Tone (live), Beatbully (live), Torkelsen (live), Midi Mantra (live), Uraki Riddim (DJ)
A lot of great stuff to be presented during Øya Klubbdagen and the rest of the week as well @ Fisk og Vilt
Klubbdagen tuesday 07.08 :
19:30 BEATBULLY LIVE ACT
Skweee producer from Hamar and one of the founders of the label Dødpop. Beat Bully released Dødpop first full-length, Cosmic Rain, which received very good reviews from XLR8R, Lowrider and Sonic Router.
“Serious Skweee heat from Beatbully, setting off his debut LP on Dødpop. This is easily one of the heaviest Skweee records we’ve ever clapped lugs upon, refining the sound to a diamante-sharp refraction of R&B 8-Bit electronics and a killer digidub flavour.” – Boomkat
20:30 TORKELSEN LIVE ACT
Torkelsens debut album has been made in a basement in Torsnes in Fredrikstad over the last few years, and finally sees the light of day.
“Traces of old-school Amon Tobin and the wax-plundering ethos of Stones Throw”
“it’s impossible not to love up-and-coming Torkelsen’s ridiculously catchy Simple”
- No Fear of Pop
21:30 NO DIAL TONE (Classic) LIVE ACT
Two dancers turned DJs. Two DJs turned producers. Together, dance floor creators. 2012 has started out good for these two girls, Vibeke Bruff and Kristina Dunn. They have recently joined the family of Classic Music Company, which is also to mention part of the machine of Defected Records, with their upcoming release About You feat. Djamila. The EP includes remixes from well known House producers Mic Newman and Tom Ellis, and is sure to be a track to remember from the summer of 2012.
The two now reside in Oslo, Norway and are combining, twisting, and mastering the electronic elements that they love. From their DJ gigs to live performances, which include visual arts, dance, and live vocals from Kristina and other guest vocalists, their sound is evolving into one they can call their own. They are also the creators behind LIPSTICK, Oslo’s infamous club concept, which takes club-goers on a journey through the universe and back again from their eclectic selections of deep/funky/vocal/minimal/house.
Currently, they are working in their studio creating new sounds that will move feet and hearts that beat. Their vision is inspired from the past, the future, and the life that surrounds. Influenced from the minimal, forward style of Scandinavia. Make sure to keep your eye on these two, for their journey has only just begun.
22:30 MIDI MANTRA LIVE ACT
Midi Mantra play danceable electropop. The band was originally a duo, but have added more musicians to get an organic live sound.
23:30 URAKI RIDDIM (Fine Grains) DJ SET
Uraki Riddim is a Scottish DJ and graphic designer based in Oslo. Founder of Fine Grains Records and 'The Drop' and 'DO IT! Collective' club concepts in Norway and Scotland. His events have been featured in publications such as Juxtapoz and DPS for the use of audio-visuals and live collaborations between musicians and visual artists. As a DJ he has played support for Diplo, Gold Panda, Birdy Nam Nam, DMX Krew, Rustie and Onra, and has frequently played around the globe (Sala Apolo in Barcelona, The Venue in Edinburgh, HiFi Club in Calgary, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Bucharest). A typical Uraki Riddim set can swing from raw 4x4 kick drums and off kilter beats to woozy neon soul and modern funk; a melting pot of cutting edge and vintage machined sounds.
