Line-up / Cliques, Bootyspoon, Compound DJs
Following on high from the magically grime-tinged launch party (and the incredible debut of Templar Soundsystem), Compound is proud to return with even more future-focused sounds made for the body. This time, we go deep underground with Sydney’s pre-massive, future-techno champions Cliques, alongside the Compound Residents and the Sydney debut of Bootyspoon.
Cliques is the collaborative project of Sydney-based producers 48/4 and Hensen. Both extraordinary experimental artists in their own right, the two combined powers and influence into a low-end techno frenzy, indicative of the cross-genre pollination flooding modern music's creative undertones.
Crunchy yet airy, spacious yet irreversibly claustrophobic – Cliques create the dark, bottom heavy trax you could only expect from the true underground locales of the world and beyond. Already clocking massive support from London tastemaker Oneman and the entire RinseFM community, Cliques expect to release a debut EP sometime in the coming year. In the meantime, expect a relatively unseen (and unheard) live show from one of the most exciting and enigmatic names in the Sydney future-music spectrum. You can check their tune 'Rooty Hill' here - http://soundcloud.com/cliques/rooty-hill
On the outer, making another Compound debut is newly found resident Bootyspoon. A mixture of all things dark corners and neon sweat, Bootyspoon alongside DJ Hernan, Mansion, Speakeasy and Clark Cohen look to the past for music of the stars. Think texture, think galaxies, think music made to make you dance.
Because that’s what we do.
