As Leeds starts to quieten down and revision for exams begins to get underway, we at Flux and The Red Bull Music Academy are very excited to reveal to you the light at the end of the tunnel: our biggest ever day and night terrace party, which will take place on 30th May at The Beaverworks. We will be joined by many of our favourite residents from across Leeds as well as our 7 headliners, who are flying in from as far away as the States for this party. We are very excited to announce that we will be welcoming Morgan Geist, Mark E, Spencer Parker, Perseus and Dead Rose Music Company. Also joining us will be RBMA lecturer Ewan Pearson and ex-academy member San Soda, playing us everything from disco to house to techno in the sunshine. With 16 hours of top quality music, food and drinks, this is set to be the ultimate summer send off.

Artists
__________

Morgan Geist is a man of prodigious creative output, whether it’s under his own name, as one half of Metro Area, or under most recently successful moniker, Storm Queen. With a slew of instantly recognisable tracks to his name, from ‘Look Right Through’ to ‘Miura’, expect an eclectic set with an unashamed disco slant that honestly reflects his New York heritage.

Ewan Pearson is undeniably a legend of the electronic scene. He is a prolific producer and particularly a remixer, having worked with acts as infamous as Depeche Mode and Delphic. His sets are diverse and imbued with a certain energy and spirit that is embodied at his current label, Kompakt. Ewan is also a published academic and critic, having lectured at RBMA, and we look forward to witnessing an insightful and taste-making performance.

Mark Evetts, aka Mark E, has enjoyed a steady but inexorable ascension to recognition. Widely acknowledged as the master of the edit and with an unparalleled skill at moulding vocal cuts, Mark has seen releases from labels such as Running Back as well as his own, Merc. His sets are filled with quintessential house—unswerving, mechanistic and intoxicatingly simple.

Spencer Parker, born in the UK and now a resident of Berlin, has never strayed far from the underground. His productions, on labels from Rekids and Tsuba to Liebe*Detail vary from the soulful and melodic to the stripped-back and raw, but there is a certain authenticity that unites them. Spencer’s repeated invitations to play at the famous Panoramabar bode well for what to expect from him in May.

Nicolas Geysens, aka San Soda, began his musical life in commercial radio in his native Belgium. A one-off visit to see Chicago legend Tyree Cooper changed his life. A fascination with the music of Chicago eventually led him to the studio and since then his output has been consistent in its depth and soul, whether solo or in his collaboration with Red D as FCL, on labels such as We Play House and 20:20 Vision.

Leon Oziel, aka Perseus, started out as a tastemaker writing for one of the world’s biggest music blogs. After uncovering talents such as Azari & III and Disclosure he decided to have a go himself, setting us his French Express label from his base in Texas. Now his own music has received blogosphere acclaim, with tracks such as ‘Running Back to You’ and ‘Seychelles’ giving him a reputation all of his own.

Dead Rose Music Company are part of a growing, young UK house scene that manage to make disco and house music sound retrospective and classic yet innovative and current simultaneously. Their music has been put out my labels such as Wolf Music and Futureboogie, and tracks such as ‘Just a Bitter Love’ and ‘Faith’ have ensured a rapid rise to prominence.

Wed, 23 May 2012Huge line up can't wait for this, shame that a few more people couldn't get tickets, but I guess it's difficult to find a venue midweek for during the day!
