Triple J Mix Up together with Hardware and ONELOVE are proud to announce BOOKA SHADE (GERMANY) - LIVE “DJ KICKS” Melbourne side show on Tues 4th Dec, hot off the trail of a string of Festival dates including the massive fresh Stereosonic Festival at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds (Dec 1). Die hard fans of the Berlin duo can now see Booka Shade in the seductive club surrounds of the Princeband Room for a rare live showcase.
To illustrate what one can expect from the ‘LIVE band’ performances of these electronic pioneers, one only has to remember the string of sold out Booka Shade ‘Movements’ show of over Easter break this year, making it arguably one of the most talked about and highly rated Australian tours of 2007. And evidently Australia made just as much of an impression on our gracious German duo as even after a 20 month, 160 date tour they still rate the Melbourne (and Sydney) shows as their 3rd best ever.

Booka Shade have also released two critically acclaimed LPs 2004’s ‘Memento’ and 2006’s ‘Movements’ to great applause but DJ Kicks is Booka Shade’s first ever adventure in the recorded mix format in which they’ve delivered an exciting sonic tapestry of tunes featuring two Booka Shade exclusives, “Numbers” (the first track Booka Shade have ever written vocals to) and “Estoril”. We came at it from a producer's background," Walter explains. "It wasn't just about choosing tracks that blended rhythmically, but we were interested in the harmony as well.
