The canny idea behind Electronic Goods is that they operate in-house at Clwb Ifor Bach, but collaborate with a rotating list of the city’s freshest and best independent club promo crews.

So far they’ve been joined by C-Y-N-T, Obey, City Bass and Studio 89 – tonight, though, they move further afield and team up with Red Bull Music Academy.

It’s RBMA’s esteemed reputation that’s helped bring together this quartet of DJs: varied in styles and scenes, tied together by a psychic knowledge of how the dance floor works.

Floating Points, a London resident named Sam Shepherd, has gone from unknown to neo-house icon in the last three years. A succession of singles, mostly on his own Eglo label, veer from jazz-house swing to off-kilter garage meets bass music, with multiple deviations on the road.

Andrew Weatherall needs no introduction, which might just be an excuse to get out of trying to squish his immense career into a sentence or two. We’ll just say “one of the most important people in the history of British dance music,” “introduced thousands of 90s indie kids to repetitive beats,” “has a ridiculously big record collection with which to rock you,” “currently sporting a proper gentleman’s moustache”.

Ben UFO, one of the founders of the Hessle Audio label, is just about unmatchable right now when it comes to stitching together wildly varied genres in the mix – check out his mix CD on Rinse from 2011 for proof.

Finally, we have Braiden, who like Ben UFO is a regular DJ on Rinse FM. Like Ben, he also favours coming at the crowd from unexpected angles, but keeping them bubbling with garage, techno, dubstep and whatever else feels right.
