Lexicon & Goldbars
The rap night with a sense of fun returns and while the city may be going gaga for The Queen's jubilee, we'll be celebrating hip hop's monarch, Queen Latifah! We'll be making up plenty of masks for you to don whilst busting your best royal moves as DJs Lexicon & Goldbars play just about anything with a rap on it. Expect everything from party hip hop to G-funk to early ‘90s rave, R&B, garage, grime and loads of pop. Even the dude who does the "Serious As Cancer" rap on "Rhythm Is A Dancer" gets an airing. Oh, and it's all held in the basement of a former sex shop turned cocktail bar, attached to a craft shop where you can buy knitting yarn until 2am.
On the night, our hip hop photographers will be wandering around, offering props and pun-filled placards, allowing guests the tantalising opportunity of pulling silly poses in photos.
Also, we're dedicating the final hour of the night to crowd requests. Choices can be submitted in advance via our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/theloveofmic). On the night we will also be taking requests via Twitter: @fortheloveofmic
PLUS we’re really excited to have Time Out’s clubbing editor, Kate Hutchinson, guest DJing a set of ‘potty mouthed lady riddims’.
