Hakim Murphy starded playing records in 1996 but his career began as a dancer in Chicago a lot earlier. His most influential figures are Larry Heard,Green Velvet and Robert Armani. In 2006 he realesed his first EP The Hakim 101 on Random Access Recordings. In 2008 he founded 2 record labels : Machining Dreams and Synapsis Records. In his every day life he is also a librarian. His musical productions range from house to techno but he always lays down a unique, deep and acid groove. This is an important step in the evolution of The Chameleon initiative because for the first time we can bring forward a true artist, a well known producer who expresses freely his spiritual and emotional culture through music. Once again we are honoured that we can be near nature, in the park, because the gig is being held at the Tete a tete terrace so we can enjoy the fresh air and the beautifull,refreshing out-doors.
A short self description : "Since my youth, I believe that music has touched me in a way that made me fall in love with its rhythms, harmonies,and melodies. So in the natural progression dancing took over my body, but yet my soul craved for more and that is when playing records surfaced. Ah, then the fascination with the fast dance tracks turned into deep House production through friends and experiences, which blossomed into a Bachelor’s degree in music composition. Liberal arts training allowed me to take classes and learn about human intellect, nature, and essentially my personal definition of art. Synapsis Records and Machining Dreams record labels are born and currently releasing music by, for, and from the underground." H.M.
