Tonight, we are celebrating the life and artistry of our Brother, Max Pela. Resident DJ for Uhuru Afrika. As he makes another journey around the sun... we pause and show our gratitude for him sharing his music and spirit with us month after month. FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS Hermano!!!!!

Uhuru Afrika returns after an incredible beginning to 2012 and an insane white party featuring Zaki Ibrahim performing live. And our quarterly resident DJ Rich Medina who killed it as always... we return and focus the spotlight on the resident artists that built this party, this energy and this community. When we have guest artists, they only get the chance to spread their musical wings slightly so they are excited to have the whole night to play for you.

We are blessed to have you as a part of our community, and urge to to tell your like minded friends to join you. We never get any press and we do not mass market our events… so we partially depend on you to decide who the crowd is comprised of. So far, this formula has worked well for us because we have been blessed with a beautiful, funky, soulful, diverse, open minded and peace-filled gathering. We are one.
