After the high point of our 4th Birthday with Dan Cat in May, we're well aware that August's party will be a hard act to follow, but we think we've nailed down an artist that's got one hand on house music's best tracks, and the other on technology's cutting edge. We're massively excited to have Rik Parkinson's talents on show in August, bringing his glittering skills to Dropout alongside a bag of production tricks that's seen him get recent attention for his track "Ain't No" with support from a wide cross section of DJs from Eats Everything and Waifs & Strays to Dimitri From Paris and DJ T that bodes for an exciting 2012.

Rik's DJ career goes back to his formative years in Lancashire, and on to Leeds where he joined the city's alumni as he completed a degree that focussed his efforts on electronic music. Fast forward to 2012, and he's producing techy tracks and immersing himself in the cutting edge technology, marking himself out as a man with a plan for this year. We'll be throwing everything behind him on the 4th August, hoping the sun's rays give us a welcome hand. Expect house music of the highest order alongside residents Guy Hornsby and Jamie Richards.

As ever, the serious effort goes into Dropout’s commitment to shit-hot music, free from big club pretention. It’s all about getting down in a venue that cares more about the dancing than the denim. So come and celebrate with us at The Star Of Bethnal Green on the 4th August to turn on, tune in and Dropout.

Rik Parkinson (Hailstorm Music)

Rik's well known as a virtuoso DJ and teaches some of the world's top DJs insider tips and wrinkles in his role as one of Pioneer's secret weapons. Now he's back in the studio, and 2012 will see a series of heavily-rotated deep and tech house stormers. Having had an electronic music epiphany in the late 90s, Rik then moved to Leeds to pursue parallel paths of DJing in the city's clubs and gaining a degree in Creative Music and Sound Technology.

Now the Ginga Ninja hones his skills in the studio alongside his many gigs, busy keeping himself at the forefront of the scene and the vanguard of Pioneer's technological drive. His track, 'Ain't No', has gathered terrific praise already and it has already featured in pre-season sets from Ibiza to Miami, and as well as the link below there's also an incredible video from Adam Ryzman. Check them out ahead of the party to get a taster for what's in store. We can't wait to have Rik down. You're in for a treat!

Guy Hornsby (Dropout/Sideways Recordings)

Guy’s twenty-year love affair with house music has taken him on a winding path from a house music epiphany at university in Sheffield to London, through sub-genres, numerous fashion crimes and many of the country’s best-loved dancefloors. In the fourteenth year of his DJ career, while not scribbling about everything electronic, the Londoner’s firmly settled on a blend of deep, groovy and techy house, always aimed at moving feet, not stroking chins, and has put needle to vinyl at almost every one of the capital’s major dancefloors.

After ten years of promoting everywhere from SeOne to Ministry, he’s settled on the less suffocating surroundings of Shoreditch as one third of Dropout’s laid-back posse, bringing forward-thinking music to Saturday’s demanding hordes. In 2009 he took in the sunny climes of Croatia’s Petracane at the Airbound festival alongside London dates. With a number of productions under his belt on Landed, Drag’n’Drop and L:Music, and last year an EP and remix out on Sideways Recordings, it’s a production career that’s slowly gaining momentum and garnering him attention in the city he calls home. It is, as they say, a marathon, not a sprint.

Jamie Richards (Dropout)

Jamie Richards has covered a good deal of ground on his electronic odyssey so far - relocating to Leeds in his late teens and forming StefJam with partner in crime Stefan Lesik - Jamie rocked a plethora of dance floors throughout the city. Then, returning to the capital as a resident at DropOut, a forward thinking party focusing on good sounds, good times and a no pretension mentality.

2009 was a frenetic and exciting year for Jamie, holding down a full time career, a residency and a number of guest sets at parties across London. Over the next two years Jamie has been tinkering in the studio, working on a smorgasbord of deep, warm, rhythmic house that is ready for a full dancefloor assault as summer edges into view. Watch this space….
