The Spice Cellar is looking forward to showcasing our resident Friday night dwellers the DISCO PUNX with headline duties on Friday July 6th.
It started as a party, turned into an obsession and then devoured their souls. The Disco Punx weren’t born out aspirations of world domination. It wasn’t about money or girls. It was the love and belief in the music they were playing. That was way back in the not proper electro days of 2005.
In 2007 they really came to prominence holding an acclaimed monthly party series that focused on showcasing emerging Sydney live acts alongside the Punx. A 3D World award was won, cases of booze were smuggled and some vicious hangovers were had.
Since then Charlie Chux has flown the coop and done it on his own while Hentai and Luke Yeah have gone on to play their own definition of house throughout the nightclubs and festivals of Sydney. Just about every club in their hometown has been conquered and also a few festivals like Future Music or Big Day Out. They've played in warehouses, half pipes, WWII bunkers and even in the Opera House. But if you were to ask them you would realize, it’s not what they have done that matters to them, it’s what they are doing next.
