DIGGIN DEEPER II
22nd September 2012 is the date for our ultra friendly, dance music spanning night back at
The Star Of Kings in Kings Cross.
A night of “PURE” dance music.
”PURE” Being the operative phrase
Dj`s will have to dig a little deeper into their crates & their archives to play the music that influenced them on their journey to becoming the turntablists they are today, giving them a chance to really express themselves in way that no other night can. When you come to Diggin Deeper, Expect a Genre crossing, eclectic mix of Quality dance music...
Disco, funk, boogie, soul, Hip hop & splash of house will be the focus of the night and we have some great guests coming to play for you. Last year we saw "Jimmythetwin" come from bristol to play for us & he played an amazing set. He is now one of the most in demand re-edit djs on he circuit.
For our 2nd installment......
(Not in set order)
PRINCESS LEAH (Diggin Deeper)
Cutting her teeth and building up momentum as a dj who never fails to fill a dancefloor. This time Leah will be dippin her fingers into 80`s/90`s funk as well as her silky smooth soulful house tonight. Be sure to get there early to check this lady out.
J MITCHELL (93-96)
First got introduced to dance music world in 91,just after the acid house scene had evolved into the glory rave years of `90 to 94` Spent most of his time on the dancefloors (fields!)Met Dj Peter H circa ’94 where the love for quality house music began.Previously described as a Dark Horse & stuck in the ‘90’s, his musical style draws on what could be considered to be the greatest decade for dance music. . Splitting the sounds into different genres is sometimes difficult, but what you will hear from Mr Mitchell will consist of Deep House, US House, Garage, Techno and Disco.Digging Deeper has come at a good time for me. For one it gives me a chance to again play out with some really good mates, but more importantly the whole concept of pulling a set together from the older collection, digging deep into some old record boxes, is spot on for me right now”.......Be prepared to hear some long forgotten gems, (and maybe the odd classic), that helped define a generation.
PETE H (Diggin Deeper, LoOp)
Now Pete is a true Vinylest with a serious collection crossing all paths of music from Deep House, Bump & Hustle Style House n Garage from way back when, Through to his original Love of Disco and Funk.. After his recent visit to the Southport weekender earlier this year he is keener than ever to dig even deeper this time around after being hugely inspired by what he heard at that extraordinary event. With his musical knowledge expect to be taken on the most definate and replenishing musical Journey.
Having grown up from an early age, surrounding and immersing himself in a variety of different sounds, Batesy has shaped his own unique style which is not tied to one format or platform, but categorised only by one thing…a love of deep. So expect a eclectic mix of House / Disco / Funk & Dub guaranteed to put a smile on your face
OUR VERY SPECIAL GUEST!!!!
MARKY B (Dogglounge)
Based in London, Mark Bromham aka DJ Marky B first started mixing in 1983. Initially, it was the 80's Electro/HipHop sound from NYC that got him hooked into buying music and after buying his first set of equipment, his turntable skills progressed at a rapid rate and was very popular locally for his mixing, scratching and turntablism skills whilst even still even studying at school.
A natural progression from Electro/HipHop then saw him start to collect and 'crate dig' those rare funky break beats that everyone heard sampled and wanted, but didn't know where to find.
By the mid-late 80's, it was the start of the Chicago House scene and early Acid era that caught his ears. Whilst keeping in touch with his musical past, throughout the 90's he went on to play early 90's Hardcore/early DnB, Old Skool house, US Garage along the various forms of House music (i.e. Deep, Funky, Tech) you will hear him play today. All in all, his collection spans nearly 40 years of music, covering a wide range of styles, which you are going to hear covered within one unique set for Diggin' Deeper on the 22st September.
Throughout his DJ journey, he has played on various radio stations, was part of the Masquerade Roadshow (one of London's leading sound systems in the 80's), played at numerous clubs in London, showcased at Notting Hill Carnival, as well as playing at some select venues overseas.
Nowadays, you can find him playing at mainly underground parties or private gigs, but if you want to hear him live then you can check out his weekly radio shows online every Tuesday on Dogglounge Radio (www.Dogglounge.com) @ 8pm GMT and every Friday on Lick FM (www.Lick.FM) @ 11pm GMT.
