John ‘Bonzai’ Caballes, or Bonzai for short, is a name that has been around the house scene for many years. First breaking out into the industry in the late 90s, Bonzai got his start learning under the wing of Gotham Grooves Techno label owner Agent Orange. He has played in some of New York’s most prominent clubs over the past 14 years like Cielo, District 36, Sullivan Room, Club Love, Crobar, and the famous Guvernment in Toronto. This talented DJ/producer has DJ’d alongside of some big talent in the techno and house space like Danny Tenaglia, Jonathan Peters, D-Formation, Austin Leeds, DJ Theo, and Sleepy & Boo – who he has known for 10 years after meeting them at a DJ competition. He has been featured as a guest of Sleepy & Boo at the pair’s Cielo Friday night residency. In 2010, Bonzai teamed up with well-traveled DJ/producer Adam Freemer on a track that was remixed and supported by seasoned house/techno veterans Phunk Investigation and Alex Santer. Bonzai has also collaborated with Agent Orange on a dark techno track called “Techin’ Back NYC”, and has been featured in a track with a few of his favorite producers, D-Formation and Simon & Shaker called “Get Excited”. He is currently working on more of his own productions you should definitely keep an ear out for. Bonzai’s focus is to get everyone dancing and enjoying the music, so on Saturday you can expect to hear all genres from progressive house, to techno, to deep house, to even dub step. Truly something for everyone to enjoy.
Danny Collins, owner and founder of Zero Gravity Events, is a talented DJ/Producer who has been progressively growing quickly in EDM over the last 5 years. Cooper Black is a New York-based DJ/producer who emerged into the house scene in 2010. He started out after he discovered his passion for dance music, and changed his career plans to pursue a career in the industry. His sounds reflect a combination of classic and electro house with some hints of early ’00 pop and hip hop. Cooper Black has played in many New York clubs like 2E bar at the Pierre, The Fashion Ave Hilton, and just recently played the Electric Daisy Carnival after-party in Pacha NYC’s basement, while Fedde le Grand took the main dance floor. In addition to bringing his beats to the rest of his native New Yorkers, he is busy producing his own original music. His tracks “Bamboo” and “Black Denim” were released on Metronix Recordings in 2011. These two house tracks have the beat to make you move, and you can expect to hear even more like them on Saturday.
