Bizarre Bazaar Sets Sights on Broader Sydney Collaboration
Sydney’s finest markets to source up-and-coming fashion designers will return to its newest residence in Angel Place on July 19th.
Bizarre Bazaar, renowned for its appearances in some of Sydney’s greatest public hideaways will feature twenty-five emerging designers at its next occurrence in Angel Place.
This is the twelfth consecutive laneway market since the project’s inception back in May 2011.
The innovative team behind Bizarre Bazaar, A Series of Fortunate Events, have set their sights on greater support of Sydney’s creative across multiple professions and platforms, introducing Bizarre Bazaar: Blogger’s Choice to the mix.
Bloggers Choice gives four Sydney fashion bloggers the opportunity to select their top picks from the editorial campaign selection and create a blog post, critiquing and providing sartorial musings on the pieces featured. The Bizarre Bazaar: Winter campaign is now featured exclusively on blogs Cacolyte; Colour Me Dang; Mintmaison and NoraFinds.
Callan Park Institution played host to the latest campaign shoot, photographed by A Series of Fortunate Events resident Revka and styled by the latest addition to the team, Basilia Dulawan. Bizarre Bazaar continues to unite young creatives across Sydney to create high quality campaigns in unusual settings.
NoraFinds blogger Annora Theong commented on the force behind Bizarre Bazaar: “There is nothing more exuberant than a collection of young creative minds working together to do what they’re really passionate about. That is the case with A Series of Fortunate Events, a platform that gathers individuals from across the fashion industry to provide them with a chance to showcase their talents.”
Bizarre Bazaar fans were given the opportunity to provide comment on the project this month: with regular shopper Wendy Collins noting “Bizarre Bazaar is the kind of place you want to keep a secret and share with everyone at once!”
Featured designers at the laneway event next Thursday are Bizarre Bazaar newcomers Faddoul, Laurel & Hector Vintage, Red Sky at Night, cinnamonsister, Magical Wonderland and Achea-Mpong by Mutesi, amongst a throng of others, tucked neatly behind iconic CBD bar, ivy.
Presenting an array of entertaining performers and musos will be Bizarre Bazaar partners Guerilla Gigs, rumoured to be creating a gig ‘at height’ in Angel Place on July 19th.
What began as a group project at TAFE Sydney Institute in 2011, Bizarre Bazaar has blossomed into a thriving community project supporting a broad spectrum of Sydney creatives. A Series of Fortunate Events have more collaborative activities on the horizon including the Lonely Kids Club X Oxford Street Design Store design competition, “Fill in the Blanks” – providing a supportive platform for local artists and graphic designers.
Funded by A Series of Fortunate Events and designers for designers, Bizarre Bazaar is a community project that aims to provide valuable public exposure to grassroots fashion designers and strengthen Sydney’s love of local fashion.
