Hyperdub’s legacy, from the early works of Burial and beyond has been pretty well documented in the press, but simply put; Kode9’s label has been at the crux of a lot changes with London’s dance music and beyond. Always creating its own take on British dance music, from ghostly 2step to dubstep, funky, grime and beyond with more recent signings Laurel Halo and Hype Williams, you’ll find the label at the cutting edge. For their second label takeover of Room One the Hyperdub are celebrating a duo of albums from shadowy south Londoners, LV, and one of grimes most referenced producers, Terror Danjah – both on the same night. Considering that LV’s Sebenza, which means work in Zulu, is a collaboration with three South African emcees (Okmalumkoolkat, Spoek Mathambo and Ruffest) it makes total sense that Okmalumkoolkat will fly over for his first ever UK appearance whilst Terror will be appearing alongside Riko Dan for another of his rapid fire DJ sets to mark the release of Dark Crawler, his second album on Hyperdub.

Planet Mu’s Traxman is also making the long journey to touch down in Farringdon for his London debut and, alongside the ghetto house producing Chicagoan, there’ll be DJ sets from Kode9, label staple Scratcha DVA, HDB’s chanteuse Cooly G, whose Playing Me album is currently obtaining rapturous reviews and Morgan Zarate too. It’s the kind of lineup you’d expect from such a gloriously musically disjointed organisation such as Hyperdub and we’re stoked to be able to announce that they’ll be inside Room One on Friday 7th September.

Night Slugs, one of London’s most pronounced voices operating in the club landscape, return to programme Room Two for a second time. Their family of producers and DJs are set to take centre stage with L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok going back to back alongside performances from Jam City, Kingdom and Kingdom’s Fade To Mind signees Nguzunguzu. With the label’s Club Construction series of 12”s making heavy waves and recent releases from Girl Unit and Jam City’s Classical Curves album, Night Slugs are developing at an astonishing rate but it’s in the club that their music’s cadence really becomes clear, impactful and unmissable.

Bristol’s Idle Hands collective make the journey up the M4 for the first time to populate Room Three with their team of associated artists. Based around the shop of the same name on the Stokes Croft area of the city, Idle Hands have been helping shape the perception of modern house music with releases from people like Peverelist, Alex Coulton and Kevin McPhee. Kowton headlines their lineup with appearances from the Tri Angle signed Vessel, Asusu, Szare, Outboxx and The Kelly Twins.
