London’s biggest street party, the Notting Hill Carnival, is fast approaching and Kensal Green’s dance music bastion Paradise is preparing its annual summer shake-up for the mammoth weekender. Situated in the action packed hub of the chaotic West London celebrations, Paradise will be turning dining room to dancefloor, dusting off the soundsystem and playing host to some of the finest electronic artists of the moment. Last year’s proceedings saw chart smasher Ms Dynamite, UKG legend DJ EZ and electro/house heroes Jack Beats bring the beats, but 2012’s bill is set to rock the venue’s foundations like never before.
Sunday 26th August sees the most prolific independent UK label to emerge in the 90s take over the Paradise. The Ninja Tune showcase will be fronted by the imprint’s renowned and talented founders, Coldcut who are set to perform an extra special DJ set. With an illustrious career spanning 20 years, eight chart topping albums, countless game-changing remixes and a penchant for that rare groove, old school warehouse sound, we’re elated to welcome the duo to take over the humble Paradise decks. Just announced too is the mighty Zed Bias; the ever-influential producer was vital to the changing UK garage sound and still, even now, is making waves. Original jungle raver Rebel MC joins them. Since releasing his first album in 1990 featuring the globe-wide hit ‘Street Tuff’ he’s been an inescapable voice across multi-genres. Completing the bill is label affiliates, Coldcut remixer and critically acclaimed king of dub, Adrian Sherwood. Add to that the artist who mixed UK garage, reggae and bashment and presented it to the masses with tracks like ‘Boo!’ and ‘Tales of the Hood’, Sticky, an upstairs takeover from 2012’s leading house heads The 2 Bears, and an incredible secret guest still to be announced, carnival family day never looked so damn fine.
