We're delighted to announce that for the October edition of our Crucifix sessions we're bringing two stars of the underground house & techno scene. Leading the charge is none other than Tel Aviv-based techno pioneer, Shlomi Aber, who will play a rare London set.
Recognised as one of the most influential artists of the electronic world, Shlomi's sets are known for their intensity, the reason for which is buried in a ground swell of genre-defying appreciation. A comment taken from a Radio 1 interview provides a probable insight as to why his productions are hitting such a broad mark: “No matter if it’s hard or soft, it just needs to touch your mind, body and soul at the same time. That's what I call a ‘Good Record”. This personal approach, married with 15 years of production experience, takes influence from jazz, funk, minimal, acid, and in particular the old school Detroit techno movement.
Aber has created some of the most recognisable and unique techno anthems of the modern times for the world’s most prestigious labels on his ever-expanding CV: Cocoon, Desolat, Cadenza, Ovum, R&S, Objectivity, Renaissance and his own Be As One imprint, one of the most established and leading labels of the underground dance music scene and a firm favorite with the world's elite, with its broad range of quality underground house and techno.
Shlomi's worldwide success granted some prestigious rewards as “best newcomer” in 2006, “producer and track of the year” in 2007 with "Freakside” "Beatport's artists of the year” in 2008, and also received a respected "Worldwide DJ Awards nomination" in recent times. These and more placed Shlomi in the first tier of electronic music artists, headlining every prestigious club, festival or venue worldwide.
Joining Shlomi is one of youngest house and techno producers on the scene, Ovum label-mate Agaric. Swedish-born and Berlin-based, Patrik Skoog AKA Agaric is one of the most interesting producers in the game. International support has come from leading DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Loco Dice, Ben Klock, Luciano, Joris Voorn, Magda, Laurent Garnier, and Sven Väth. Above all, his productions have been championed by Josh Wink, who went on to sign his album debut to his Ovum imprint.
Since 2005 Agaric has gained great support from major electronic labels, with releases on his internationally celebrated We Are label, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, Truesoul & Mad Eye, Raum…Musik, Sunset Diskos, Nummer, Kontra Musik, Treibstoff, Liebe Detail, and of course, Ovum.
As a technical DJ with a magical sense for momentum and selection, he’s been playing worldwide for more than 10 years, while his equally as stellar Live sets are one of the few that can rock a crowd throughout its duration. Relocating to Berlin in 2007, he quickly established himself as a celebrated constant inspiration, be it for extended Bar25 after hour sets, or club nights in Watergate, Arena, and Berghain’s Panoramabar, where he now holds his We Are label nights.
We couldn't have chosen two artists who fit the bill better, you can be sure this will be a night to remember!
