After bringing you the sounds of Chicago and New York with our previous events, we thought it about time for another of our legendary Detroit flavoured parties and a chance for us to showcase one of the most technically skilled vinyl technicians you're likely to witness – DJ Bone.
Bucking the current trend whereby artists are booked to play based on their production skills, DJ Bone a.k.a Eric Dulan decided to establish himself primarily as a DJ and it shows in the frenetic and raw style with which he cuts, scratches and blends his trademark sound of Detroit techno funk on three vinyl turntables. He is rarely out of the mix and is usually seamlessly combining two records at a time. DJ skills like these are a rarity in this age of sync button pushing, laptop DJs.
Inspired by watching the likes of Jeff Mills and Derrick May spin at the Music Institute in Detroit, Bone set about honing his skills to perfection in the mid nineties. After nailing down his unique style behind the wheels of steel, he also began to produce and release material on his own Subject Detroit label which is also home to releases by other such legendary names as previous Content guest Juan Atkins, the late great Aaron Carl, Orlando Voorn and Niko Marks.
Almost twenty years in the business have helped Bone to become one of the most gifted spinners that we have ever seen and since we revealed our love of all things Detroit he is one of our most requested DJs. This really is a case of seeing is believing – if you've seen him before then you will know that Bone is one of the most consistent performers on the planet and smashes it every time. If you've never witnessed the man in full flow, well now's your chance...
As ever tickets are limited to 200 and as Bone is one of the most respected cult figures on the techno scene, we expect this event to be highly popular so would advise you book your place in advance...
