On Saturday Sep 8th we are delighted to welcome back our good friends The Kosmische Club. Way, way back in time Kosmische were one of the first club nights to take place at Corsica and they’ll be returning to celebrate their 16th birthday with a stellar cast of Krautrock visionaries especially assembled for the occasion.
Hans-Joachim Roedelius + Leon Muraglia
Hans-Joachim Roedelius - is the Ur-grand-daddy of the Krautrock scene, having been one of its leading lights for almost half a century. From the pioneering avant-noise of Human Being and Kluster, through Cluster's spiky sweetness, the sweeping beauty of Harmonia and his own prolific solo work, Roedelius and his key collaborators – Dieter Moebius, Conny Plank, Michael Rother and Conrad Schnitzler – have produced some of the most timeless electronic music ever to emerge from Germany. Tonight he performs an improvised set with Kosmische Club founder and Radio 9 member Leon Muraglia
https://www.facebook.com/radio9, that mixes spontaneous sound and music with some kosmische classics.
Next up is Gavin Russom (DFA records / LCD Sound system) who makes a super rare appearance - his first live UK show in 3 years, in fact – and who will be showcasing a mixture of completely new and unreleased material, demonstrating that it's possible to be groovy, transcendent, minimalist and psychedelic all at the same time. Gavin's last Kosmische performance, with Delia Gonzales in 2006, was trancensational, so you won't want to miss this.
Andrew Weatherall – the term legend is often overused - but not in this case. Once we announceded that Hans-Joachim Roedelius was making an appearance here Mr Weatherall immediately offered his services and the esteemed producer, remixer and DJ will be digging deep into the vaults to play a set of warped acid and kosmische classics. Expect the unexpected….
RocketNumberNine – we’re big fans of Ben and Tom’s hypnotic, synth and groove driven percussive workouts - along with Kieran Hebden, James Holden and Radiohead – and are looking forward to some killer dance floor action later on.
The Man From Uranus - A legend in his own lifetime, MFU's moon-base music spans the kosmos from psyched out synth jazz to funked up noise and almost anything in-between. The Alien lovechild of Stockhausen and Sun Ra - from outer space to you, step inside the world of MFU...
Eat Lights Become Lights - Recently signed to Rocket Girl, Eat Lights; Become Lights share a deep love of classic German acts of the 1970’s evoking classic Kosmische bands such as Neu!, Kraftwerk and Can but making the sound very much their own creating an ever changing synaesthesic landscape of harmony and melody, feedback and drones, played against a driving motoric beat.
offbeat, off-kilter and occasionally off-the-wall mashup of lo-fidelity experimental pop music and uptempo kosmik grooves. a short, elektronik, motorik set
Visuals - carlos slazenger
Original kosmische projectionist Carlos Slazenger hotwires his audio visual equipment for one final blow out.. Expect surreal postcards, outsider art and a whole freakin' night of strange imagery to break the ice, tease the old grey matter and entertain. NB this is an old school pixel free bachannal of celluloid sillyness.
Kosmische Club DJs Leo Avanti!, Anthony Barratt, Jim Backhaus and Richard Fontenoy will also be on hand to make sure things never get too predictable..
