Here at Content we're known for booking pioneers and artists who have helped to create and shape the dance music scene as we know it. So for our 3rd birthday, we thought we should go all out and bring you the person who has quite possibly had the largest and most far reaching influence on electronic music... François K.

Born and raised in France, François Kevorkian learned to play the drums in his teenage years before later moving to New York in 1975 where he found work as a DJ in the early disco scene. A few years later he began making tape edits of disco records and from the reputation he developed from this, he began to work in A&R and also as a remixer for Prelude records, one of the biggest and most influential disco labels of it's time. It was a label that helped to define the sound of the New York scene and without the disco scene, it's questionable as to whether this thing we call house would even exist...

Throughout the 80's, FK became the most in demand dance music producer/remixer and his level of success led him to be called upon to work with massive artists such as Yazoo, Kraftwerk, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and even Diana Ross! The 90's saw François embrace the deep house sound and he started the legendary Wave Music, a label responsible for putting out gems from a wide range of acts from old school big hitters like Fonda Rae, Pete Heller and King Britt through to modern stars like Tony Lionni, John Daly and XDB. It was around this time that he also set up the much vaunted and now sadly defunct night Body & Soul, where he played alongside fellow residents Danny Krivit and Joe Clausell.

From 2002 onwards, François' style as a DJ began to encompass more influences from dub and techno and he began to play more Detroit influenced sounds and even toured and performed alongside previous Content guest Derrick May as “The Cosmic Twins.” He also launched a club night at Cielo in New York called “Deep Space” whose music policy revolves heavily around the dub aesthetic through all genres ranging from tripped out cosmic disco through to techno, drum 'n' bass and dubstep.

We are fairly confident that you will never be presented with an opportunity to see someone of FK's stature, in such close quarters again. As ever tickets are limited to 200 and we expect this to sell out rapidly so don't snooze...
