Varme is absolutely excited to have its launch party on the 20th October at TB2 in Bristol!

For our first event we are bringing all the way from Holland one of our favourite producers and DJs, A Made up Sound! Alongside him we have two other rising talents, Alex Coulton from Manchester and Hodge from Bristol and warm up will be provided by Kelan from Etiquette Bristol and resident Snygg which also runs FEM Blog.

In the second room, we've invited one of our favorite clubnights this year. Ilkin is well known in the Bristol club scene due to their packed nights and quality headliners such as Synkro, Eliphino or Arkist. Their residents and guests will make sure the front room will be nothing but vibes!

A Made Up Sound aka 2562 (50Weapons, Clone)

Dutch nonconformist Dave Huismans may be best known for his heartfelt and genre-defying bass music experiments as 2562, but his longest-going project A Made Up Sound has been gaining just as much momentum lately. ''You might as well try and stop a train with wire coathangers'' is how one of techno's most widely recognized journalists quite aptly described the sheer force of A Made Up Sound's oddball yet funk-fueled take on house/techno. More specifically Rear Window, his recent appearance on the revered Delsin Records, indeed went down a storm on dancefloors worldwide - and still does, as do his previous releases on Clone's Basement Series and Shed's Subsolo imprint.

Adding the much needed elements of unpredictability and guts to a techno/house scene that by and large plays it safe is what A Made Up Sound is after, reflected in his dj performances too. He effortlessly joins the dots between past & future and straight & offbeat like few others, taking risks and pairing energetic mixing skills with a deep knowledge of and passion for dance music through the years. He's playing regularly at the world's finest clubs, such as Berghain/Panoramabar (Berlin), Fabric (London), Trouw (Amsterdam) and The Bunker (New York).

Alex Coulton (Idle Hands, All Caps, Dnous YtiviL)

Alex Coulton does not mess about. Born and raised in Manchester, the young producer delves into the darker, heavier sides of house and techno to offer an alternative take to dance music. Alex released his first record in 2010 on the respected and enigmatic Frozen Border imprint Horizontal Ground. His second release arrived on his own Syndrome Z label, which he co-runs with UK techno duo Snare (aka 19.26.1.18.5), while his debut ‘Representations’ EP dropped on Glasgow’s brand new, up-and-coming label All Caps in late 2011, with early support coming from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Benji B, Ben Klock, Ben UFO, Blawan, Peverelist, and many more.

While his tracks draw distant parallels with the sounds of Detroit heroes such as Omar-S (with track title ‘Omar’ as an obvious reference) and Theo Parrish, Alex does not necessarily conform to a certain genre. Having been introduced to dubstep at a young age by his older brother and citing Chopin as his favourite composer, along with musicians like William Basinski and The Caretaker, emphasizing feeling and groove over simply dancefloor thump is what Alex does best. “I might throw a few ambient tunes in there just to set the tone,” he said. Indeed, his music is elegant, richly layered and fully textured, which achieves a minimal amalgamation between the pulsating dancefloor-centric rhythms and the shimmering, anytime listening material.

Hodge (Deadplate, Immerse)

Hodge, also known as Jacob Martin, had his first experiences of dance music as a 10-year old school boy, whizzing around a dark roller-disco. He has since left his native Kent and setup camp in the creative hub that is Bristol, making a real mark on the cities vibrant electronic music scene and the current resurgence in house.
Whether it be his work as Hodge, or as one half of Outboxx (alongside Matt Lambert); Martin is pricking up all the right ears right about now. Stand out releases on Pollen, Immerse, Idle Hands and Well Rounded are seemingly just the start for this talented character.
