Friday 2nd November 2012 marks the return of NOMAD to Glasgow’s dance floors. Almost a year on since Troy Pierce rocked The Ferry for us, we return with a fresh emphasis on showcasing our favourite underground house and techno talents within the intimate surroundings of the impressive La Cheetah Club’s basement. We mark our return by bringing a long time favourite of ours; Mark Henning to Glasgow for the first time in over 3 years, throw into the mix our Haunted Disco theme, along with the return of our resident Ivan Kutz from the White Isle, in addition to the introduction of the very talented Avon Kyyd to our resident roster, and we’re all set for a belter.
:: Mark Henning ::
London's, Berlin based Mark Henning has risen up as one of the underground's true players. Born to English and German parents, he has spent most of his life in England, though has never forgotten his German roots and is now firmly settled in Berlin. Since quitting his city day job in 2007 to chase the dream, he's been nominated for a DJ Mag award, toured all over the globe, released a much admired debut album on legendary Scottish institution Soma Recordings and released countless well-received and heavily supported EPs and remixes on a volley of highly-regarded international labels such as Soma, Cityfox, Watergate, Clink, Cynosure, Trapez, Hypercolour and Little Helpers.
Mark’s sound sits somewhere between house and techno with a healthy dose of darkness, swing and funk, all the required ingredients to get our haunted disco bouncing. He has established his career not just through his productions but also through his worldwide performances, as both a dj and live act with regular slots at the likes of Fabric, Panorama Bar, Watergate, Rex Club, Space, Privilege, Katerholzig, Suicide Circus, Fuse and Harry Klein, as well as many festivals throughout Europe including Scotland’s very own T In The Park and Rockness in recent years.
We’re really looking forward to hearing how Mark puts La Cheetah’s recently upgraded 15k sound system through its paces with some of his trademark bass heavy productions.
:: Ivan Kutz ::
Over the summer our resident Ivan Kutz has been busy forging a name for himself over on the White Isle; promoting his blend of deep, gritty house and grooving techno; with some notable appearances along the way, including a stand out display at Mulletover’s party at the illustrious Sankey’s Ibiza in June alongside Sebo K, Thugfucker and Bill Patrick, this in addition to spins at Bubbles Club - Ibiza Town, Departure’s rooftop party @ Itaca and Carl Cox’s weekly Revolution Pre-party’s.
:: Avon Kydd ::
Further to the talents of Ivan, we will be adding some fresh blood to our resident line up, in the form of Avon Kyyd. Over the last couple of years Avon has been steadily making a name for himself on the Glasgow scene with appearances in the majority of city’s top venues, most notably appearing at Glasgow institution Sunday Circus, not to mention our own summer day party last year supporting a:priar’s Rhadoo at The Queens Park Glasshouse, along with numerous appearances at The Arches alongside the likes of Steve Lawler and Oliver Hunteman.
