Beats In Space:
What began back in ‘99 as Tim Sweeney was just entering New York University, Beats in Space was formed in the college’s radio station. Then eventually the weekly shows began to make headway as mixes were recorded and broadcast around the web. Thirteen years later, Mr. Sweeney is at the forefront of dance music taste making. With one hand programming and building the budding NY New Disco scene, the other is found traveling the globe to play parties near and far.
Playing as Pachanga Boys, DJ’s Superpitcher & Rebolledo have come together to bring to the Cameo Gallery their US Debut. After meeting in Mexico and keeping in touch for years, these two friends eventually found themselves in the studio, crafting early morning trance-like tracks that stretch into the 15 min mark. Their epic hit ‘Time’ has taken house music by surprise and left fans ecstatic on the dance floor. As a pair, their sets are intricate and developed, drawn out reverb fills in the breaks with live looping and effects.
DJ Dez Andres is a veteran of Detroit House. Though he originally grew up in California and honed his skills in hip-hop and scratching, he later moved to Detroit where he worked at the legendary Buy Rite Records. With contemporaries like Moodmann, Theo Parrish, and J Dilla by his side, Andres was also a former DJ in Slum Village for some time. Last year saw the birth of his very first release on the imprint La Vida and the jam ‘New For U’ that burned up the charts at Juno Records and even had Tim Sweeney impressed.
