Superfreq, our favourite brand of wonky, tech house entertains at Junk this Saturday and for this freqy episode we welcome onto the decks two legendary pioneers of the tech house scene, "Evil" Eddie Richards and Mr.C.
Starting life in the famous 'The End' club in London, as THE Sunday night party, Superfreq survived the club's sad closure and has since gone on to host parties at some of the coolest locations around the world from Mexigo to Ibiza and London to Los Angeles inviting an impressive list of guests including Jamie Jones, Steve Bug and more to showcase what they call "serious music not taken at all seriously" – 10 years on and the party still goes strong.
The brand's owner, guru, international DJ, innovative producer, founder of quintessential "Plink Plonk" parties, Shamen frontman and one time co-owner of The End is a pioneering force in the house music scene since the late 80s and has continued to be instrumental in the proliferation of dance music on a global scale. Through his devotion to the new Mr.C rarely plays classics, spinning fresh underground music at every opportunity which has kept him relevant in the house scene for so many years.
Alongside him is another major player in the rise of tech house, Evil Eddie Richards "Britain’s godfather of house and techno" (Mixmag). Eddie was one of the first DJs to champion house back in the mid 8O’s & one of the UK s original mix DJs who became a key figure in a new music and cultural movement soon to explode worldwide. After playing at such influential and original underground clubs as Clink St. & Heaven in London and Manchester's Hacienda, he went one to headline the legendary UK pay parties Sunrise and Energy among countless others. Remix and production work led to the release of club classics; ’Acidman’ in ’88 which hit the UK Top 20, followed by other chart topping remixes of Ralphi Rosario, Orbital and The Shamen. Eddie has been included in virtually every book, documentary and film about dance culture and is sought after all over the world for his flawless mix of deep bass driven techno with soulful & tough house, a format he has always maintained, and has led him to be widely regarded as the pioneer of what is now known as ’tech-house’.
Support comes from Jaded's own likely lad Mouj who'll be bringing the underground "London" vibe to the party and our own resident Luca Pilato who brings his own unique blend of house / disco for the early hours.
