Purp & Soul as a label, a group of artists under one agency and as a blog have quickly become one of the scene’s most recognised brands. A strong set of releases through their main catalogue and also via their free EP series has created a real buzz about the group and large amounts of recognition from many within the game. Supported by their mascot, the purple disco duck, the label keeps going from strength to strength with upcoming EP’s from Murkage (Fame 3000 EP) & Harry Wolfman (Secret Love EP) displaying a more mature future sound to their music.
Topping the bill is Purp & Soul Creative Director, Label Manager & Artist ‘Ben Pearce’ who is currently creating a huge wave across the underground house community with his forthcoming debut ‘What I Might Do EP’. The highly anticipated title track, supported by Solumun, David August & Danny Daze, is set to be one of the hottest records of the year. The momentum around Purp & Soul’s creative engine is quickly building and other releases such as Ben’s ingenious tough love remix of Sailor & I illustrate his brilliance.
Next up we welcome Resketch. Recent and upcoming releases for Your Mamas Friend caught our attention here at Wolfstock and Purp & Soul. You can check Wolfstock’s feature on his Bound In Binary Ep here http://wolfstockevents.co.uk/feature/resketch-bound-in-binary-ep-ymf04/. Ben and Chris had to snap the Liverpudlian up for some remix work on the recent Murkage EP as well as a future release on purp & soul with 'understad'. We looking forward to welcoming resketch to the horse & groom for the very first time.
Harry Wolfman, co-owner and resident of our own Wolfstock, is also the latest addition to the Purp & Soul family. Having already released his free EP on the label, Harry is massively involved with the next batch of releases inspiring the group towards another level. Remixing on the next release ‘Fame 3000’ plus his own ‘Secret Love EP’ complete with a remix from Futureboogie's Behling & Simpson, Harry’s limits have no bounds. Most recently his remix of Ben’s 'What I Might Do' has been confirmed for the official Under The Shade release and is set to put dance floors world wide into a frenzy.
Mark Wells has become something of a secret weapon for the group, remixes on ‘Ben Pearce - Got Love’, ‘Jouhl – Get Static’ on the free EP’s still prove to be some of the most popular on Purp & Soul. Not forgetting Mark’s “I Want You EP’ that did very well in the charts as Purp & Soul’s first official release. Forthcoming releases on Nurvous and Alive as well as some huge remixes for Kid British, We Human, Art In Motion & Harry Wolfman all make for a very promising end of the year for the young gun.
The highly energetic Jouhl brings a raw passion to the group with his genuine love for music that has seen his debut EP ‘Cold Calling’ signed to well respected 12” and digital label ‘Sleazy Deep’, also home to the likes of No Artificial Colours. Ahead of that, the incredibly hyped ‘Spend It All’ is soon to be release as part of a VA on Akbal Music that also features Death On The Balcony. Jouhl continues to sit alongside good company with a collaborative ’96 Affair EP’ with Harry Wolfman coming before the year is out on Purp & Soul Records.
The last of a dying breed-Memo Insua is a believer that music should be a form of art. His commitment to engineering the sounds within his productions, creates music full of groove, depth and beauty. 2012 is a rebirth for Memo having already had tracks signed to New Your label, he is now a welcome addition to the Purp and Soul roster.
Dan Styles joins us following his huge I Wanna Let You EP on Purp & Soul that featured a remix from Climbers. The record gained huge support and with other releases coming soon on labels such as Union Jack, featuring a remix from Alex Arnout, 2012 is set to be a big year for Dan. The South coast trouble maker always creates a party atmosphere and fills us with nothing but excitement for the 19th.
We’re delighted to welcome all six Purp & Soul artists under the agency for a Wolfstock exclusive London Purp & Soul showcase.
