La Cheetah Club
LA CHEETAH CLUB 3RD BIRTHDAY PARTY
MOTOR CITY ELECTRONICS PART 3
DJ GODFATHER (TWILIGHT 76, DATABASS, JUKE TRAX) PRESENTS... A HISTORY OF GHETTO-TECH!!
So...La Cheetah Club has reached the grand old age of 3! We'd like to thank every single one of the artists that played, the promoters who threw the parties they played at and (most importantly) all the good people of Glasgow (and beyond) who have came down and danced their asses off and made our humble little basement one of the most coveted night clubs in Glasgow. There have been so many amazing nights in the club since it's opening 3 years ago it would take all day to note them down here and we're sure you're all capable of remembering your personal favourites, so, on with the birthday party chat...
DJ GODFATHER has been at the top of our want list since day one! The stars have finally aligned meaning he can headline the 3rd part of our MOTOR CITY ELECTRONICS series which just so happens to be LA CHEETAH CLUB'S 3RD BIRTHDAY. In keeping with the the theme behind the MOTOR CITY ELECTRONICS series, he'll be performing a one off "HISTORY OF GHETTO-TECH SET" for us!! That's probably the best birthday present we could have hoped for and we'd love it if you all came down and enjoyed what is sure to be a jaw-dropping set from the man who pretty much created the genre.
A wee bit of history for you... DJ Godfather is considered to be one of the founding fathers of the genre we now know as Ghetto-Tech. He started DJing at the age of 15 with the help of business partner DJ Dick. Within a few months of getting his turntables, Godfather was already playing in nightclubs and after hour parties all over Detroit. He started producing at the age of 17 for his first Miami Bass style group "Bass Association". With the buzz of the first few singles off the Bass Association album, Godfather decided to make his first solo record at the age of 18 on Twilight 76 Records, entitled "Work Dat". Taking his unbelievable turntablism skills and mixing Detroit Techno music with Miami Bass, a new sound was born "Ghetto-Tech". With the formation of their new record label Twilight 76 with partners DJ Dick and Brian Gillespie, he took his talent and turned it into an entire business creating 3 other labels, Databass Records, D.E.T. and Juke Trax. With all 4 record labels combined, Godfather and his partners have released over 130 vinyl and mix CD's, selling over 500,000 units worldwide.
La Cheetah Club residents Wardy and Dom D'Sylva will be on hand to get the place jumping before Godfather destroys it!
Door tax £10
