Marketing was created end of 2005, with it's first release "Tribute to John Surman" (I:Cube/Tekel/Tim Paris) Marketing Music comes from the idea that underground music can be aimed to everybody. Jef K & Tim Paris are the founder of the label, having already worked together on Jef K's labels C&S and Silver Network. The label, entirely dedicated to Tim's music and crushes, tends to release Electronic music in all its genres trying to enlarge widely its inspirations: from Pop to Disco to John Carpenter, Techno music or contemporary music.

The night is taking place over both floors of the venue enabling the Marketing artist taking over downstairs to provide a showcase of music which makes the label so interesting. The night is also the launch for Alex Egan’s alias The Draughtsman 1694 EP digital release on Marketing which comes with remixes from Tim, Roman Flügel and Cosmo Vitelli. A 2x12" vinyl version will also be released courtesy of How The Other Half Lives, featuring all tracks, remixes plus an exclusive remix from man of the moment Daniel Avery. To complete the party disco aficionado Neil Thornton of (Lasermanetic) fame and special guests will be adding the leftfield party madness upstairs.

Cosmo Vitelli -French DJ and producer Cosmo Vitelli has followed a path that questions the statement made by the label he created: "I'm a Cliché". Obsessed with the idea of artistic and business independence, he has been patiently digging unsuspected mines of good music for 15 years, as a DJ, as a label head, as a producer and as a simple music passionate. His label "I'm a Cliché" began. in 2004. Releasing his own production without depending on anybody else was the first ambition. Discovering and releasing the production of artists he liked, the second. An aesthetics of the margin took shape. I'm a Cliché has been a balanced mix of club hits and home songs, reverence to the past and experimentation, obstinacy and volatility. With a pattern of soon-to-be-big musicians: Yuksek, Simian Mobile Disco, Azari & III, Runaway were all memorable signatures of the label.
Solo EPs on I'm a Cliché (latest one being "Night Dogs", 2011) or Kitsuné ("Dance with me") were far from Cosmo Vitelli's only discographic appearances: there also were remixes for Cassius, Etienne de Crécy, Daft Punk, Simian Mobile Disco, Radio Slave, Rodion, Yuksek, Runaway... and, in the late 00s, the founding of new band Bot'Ox with Julien Briffaz, formerly known as a half of Tekel. After several EPs on DFA, DC Recordings and Marketing, the band released its first album "Babylon by Car" in late 2010, on I'm a Cliché, followed by the soundtrack of french movie "Mineurs 27".
It looks a busy winter for Cosmo his band Botox are about to release their second album. First single out in November w/ remixes by Pachanga Boys and Richard Fearless and his label I'm a Cliché's just started "Edit Service": every two weeks, a new edit made by people from the label is given away: http://edit-service.com/

Alex Egan - Alex Egan is a London-based DJ, producer and designer. He has operated under a variety of aliases - such as Astronomer - remixing Joakim, Metronomy, The xx, Glasser, Jori Hulkkonen, Zombi and many more. His latest project is the '1694 EP' recorded as The Draughtsman. A two track teaser release entitled 'Geschmacklos' preceded the full EP and received glowing feedback and radio play from the likes of Erol Alkan, Ivan Smagghe, Trevor Jackson, Ewan Pearson and Optimo. Now, Marketing presents the complete '1694 EP' featuring six original tracks and interludes plus a suite of remixes from Roman Flügel, Tim Paris and Cosmo Vitelli. A bonus remix from Daniel Avery will appear on the 2x12" vinyl version, to be released by How The Other Half Lives.

The 1694 EP is released on 15th November. Preview clips:
