More on A38
There is a certain small ratio of the greatest DJs, who are like good whiskey: instead of falling into dullness during all the years or running on the spot turning rancid, they just get more tender, exquisite and mature. Luke Slater is one of the best among these few - this is one of the reasons, why we are extremely happy, that after his last, mindblowing set in May 2011, we can again present him at Technokunst!
During the last twenty years, the British Luke Slater has been absolutely maxing out the very meaning of the term “underground superstar”.
Around the beginning of the 90’s, after setting the stones of the still green English acid techno scene, he started flirting with garage and funk, released an elektro album, while he even found energy to slowly put himself into the chronicles of techno with his Planetary Assault Systems-alterego. Armoured with a swarm of analogue gadgets, besides his virtuose live PA-s, he never left the DJ-booth alone either - it is not by accident, that none of the significant techno festivals or clubs dare not to put him in the headlines (let’s think about his jaw-dropping residence in Berghain, for instance).
We have already seen some of the good old furniture of electronic music turning fatigue after twentysomething years, but Luke Slater is still one of the most exciting techno producers: his sets are guided by that very straight, edgy line lead by his charismatic character and routine of performance, that concentrates his music into one single mathematical crystal.
This time we are going to hear hyperdynamical techno operating with funk, dub and elektro effects, also by our residents, Isu and Dork.
Let’s get down with us into a proper class field trip on A38, with the best soundsystem of the city and the most shiny phenomenon of British techno!
