Patrice Scott, Portable, Vladislav Delay
Out of Focus are proud to present our biggest line-up yet, with Detroit legend Patrice Scott, the ever-impressively versatile Portable and Finland's chameleonic Vladislav Delay.
Patrice Scott, head of one of the most consistent and lauded imprints, Sistrum Recordings, has stayed true to the term coined in his 2006 debut EP, "Atmospheric Emotions", with everything this man touches being tinged with a deep cosmic vibe – whether it be releasing on his label, his handful of select delicately crafted remixes or finally, and perhaps most potently, when he turns his art toward his world-renowned DJ sets – the class Patrice oozes in each of these aspects simply cannot pass-by unnoticed. And with that, it is our absolute pleasure to showcase this luminary in Australia for the very first time.
Portable, otherwise known for his equally active alias, Bodycode, boasts one of the most exciting live electronic performances currently being exhibited. Hailing from Cape Town, Portable relocated to London in the late '90s, forming a successful label and party series with fellow pizaña, Lerato Khathi under Süd Electronic. He has gone on to release with a number of highly-respected labels, most notably Perlon, where he has seemingly found a home that will both foster and nurture his consistently interesting and ever-evolving sound with his latest LP, "Into Infinity" pushing these boundaries even further to critical acclaim late in 2011. Portable arrives on our shores with a live show unlike any other, with live vocals and an unquestionably unique flare that has been igniting dancefloors across the globe.
Rounding out this intimidating lineup is the prolific Sasu Ripatti, also known as Vladislav Delay amongst a myriad of other musically varied monikers as well as making up one third of the Moritz Von Oswald Trio – to say that Sasu is diverse would be putting it very mildly indeed. And with Vladislav's next experiment in sound set to be released late November on Berlin institution Raster-Noton, his coming to Australia really couldn't be more well-timed.
Please join us for the final hurrah of the year as we thank you all for the incredible support that you have shown throughout.
