If you’re in the market for a quality night out, lets face it you will not be struggling to find an avenue to go down right now.
We do however like to be the masters of confusion here at Collect! and we’re throwing part 2 of our seasonal extravaganza into the mix.
Big big things are involved here folks. Funk D’Void has been a legend for as long as I can remember (which is a considerable period I reluctantly put forward) and has just released a Balance album for which this date makes up part of his international tour.
His set, along with the preceding two hours of the main room will be streamed live by our friends at Electronic Supper Club, just in case you fancied making your pre-ordained right to fifteen minutes of fame happen in front of their cameras.
Mano Le Tough has held the much lauded title of my favourite house dj/producer for a while and has had the type of year that makes me smug in my choice.
We’re overjoyed to have one of the best upcoming men in the business join us. An Irishman who has conquered Berlin as a resident.
We saw him play an immaculate set of original and classy deepness a month ago at ADE festival in Amsterdam’s Trouw club to compound the certainty that he will rock the house room to it’s core.
If you have not heard of Last Waltz in the past then I can guarantee you that will all change. Although only recently releasing music under the guise, the trio have been DJing together for many years around their hometown. However last year they released their debut EP on the own, new label Object Of Distraction which received great praise from many and included remixes from the highly respected Phoreski.
Since then the trio (Geoff, Mick and El Dee) have been lucky enough to release on various labels including Endless Flight (the sub-label of Toshiya Kawasaki’ Mule Musiq imprint) and the Bristol based Futureboogie output.
Over the coming months they have releases and remixes planned on the vinyl only project Tusk Wax, our co-promoter of Collect!, Itchy Pig Records and an upcoming label based in the States called Lost Paradise, Magic Wand, Brooklyn based Let’s Play House and finally the new ENE Records. Expect greatness.
Sheffield boasts an eclectic collection of exciting new artists and Abe is the latest feather in its musical cap.
Abe’s debut EP is a fusion of dark, intriguing ambiance and light electronic beats. In terms of genre they are difficult to classify; Abe are a coalescence of different influences revamped into their own distinctive sound. Their tone suggests a sense of melancholy reminiscent of a Joy Division era; however their mastery of creating offbeat drum loops could place them alongside the ranks of contemporary artists such as Benga or Delphic. Whichever box Abe are categorised into, they will find some way of breaking its boundaries and running free.
Though Abe are currently unsigned, it is only a matter of time before the record labels will prick up their ears and take interest in the Sheffield borne trio. Despite their debut EP only being a 5-track EP, the band demonstrates an innate knowledge of the workings of what constitutes good electronic music. A full-length album could see them stretching their love for sonic experimentation into musical pastures previously unbeknownst to man; a very exciting prospect indeed.
To make it a proper two parter we are offering a double ticket to both of our events at a discount through our charitable partners at Party For The People.
