It’s the end of 2012 and we’ve made it here in one piece! Brooklyn and ourselves has had quite the year of changes and we’re looking forward to celebrating like no other. That’s why Cameo Gallery, Let’s Play House and The Dog and Pony Show have teamed up with some of the world’s best to throw down on our deck all night long, including Ian Pooley, Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), Ron Morelli (L.I.E.S. Records), Paul Raffaele (The D&P Show) and Deep Woods (Aqua-Booty).
As our room will be displayed with the finest brazilian carnival decorations, you’ll be invited to play along and dress in a fitting fashion. We look forward to kicking off the new year with this stellar lineup of local disco house proponents. So raise your glass and join us in a toast to the new good times of 2013!
Born and raised near Frankfurt, Germany, Ian Pooley began his career alongside the new swath of DJs in the early 90s like Mausse T., Boris Dlugosch and DJ Tonka. After releasing countless 12”s on V2 Records, Ian moved on to form his own label Pooled Music in 2003. Noted for having bridged the gap between techno and house, Mr. Pooley is also known to incorporate a distinctly Brazilian flavor. He’s remixed the likes of The Cardigans, Modjo, Nick Holder, The Green Velvet, and even Daft Punk.
Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem / DFA):
As a founding member of the world renowned dance-punk band, LCD Soundsystem and former member of Les Savy Fav, Pat Mahoney kept both groups in time as their staple drummer. But during those times one could also find him behind the decks with best friend, James Murphy. They had made a side career of DJing legendary parties and crafting perfect disco funk mixes like that of fabriclive 36 for London’s Fabric nightclub. These days he still travels the globe dropping mid-tempo balearic classics and obscure italo jams. His mix for Australia’s future classic released earlier this year is a perfect example of this tastemaking and DFA Records associated curation.
Ron Morelli (L.I.E.S. Records):
Top Label of 2012: http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1702
It’s been a huge year for Mr. Ron Morelli. As a record buyer for A1 Records and chief of L.I.E.S. Records, the latter has been affirmed as Resident Advisor and Juno Records’ #1 label of the year. Finally back from a few months touring Europe and completing a NYC boiler room and Beats in Space mix, Ron is back home in Greenpoint, Brooklyn where he’ll likely regroup with artists under his roster like Terekke, svengalisghost, Steve Summers, Bookworms, and Marcos Cabral. Known for his label’s signature brand of raw house and left field techno, Morelli is also a comic pessimist and constantly brings his rude ‘tude into his sets.
