In October 2012, two years after his stunning debut ‘Here Today, Gone Tomorrow’ Fritz Kalkbrenner took the next step in his career with his second album ‘Sick Travellin’. Infusing an eclectic variety of genres – from Soul to Funk and Hip Hop to House, Fritz’s influences and ideas fused together to create an album full of a powerful sound distinctly his own. Now, the long awaited world tour commences with Bethnal Green’s hottest new venue Oval Space hosting the artist’s rare London appearance.
Thirteen tracks on the highly acclaimed long player, produced in the Suol studios in Berlin have a mature, organic sound rife with vocals, live instrumentation and Fritz’s trademark grainy, “breathing” samples. Basically, a whole lot of Soul. “Sick Travellin” playfully guides the listener from bittersweet melancholy and classical songwriting to loose, dreamy dance floor moments.
Joining Fritz are Soul comrades Chopstick and Johnjon as well as Watergate resident and frequent Suol collaborator Fritz Zander. Support from London's side comes from jozif, also a Suol affiliate with his Till Von Sein remix of Non Existent Love in 2012. A rarely seen artist seen on London’s colourful musical scene, Fritz Kalkbrenner’s live album tour with highly acclaimed support promises something special.
