"ACID WARRIORS"

Prepare for an epic 3-hour DJ set by the legendary 'Acid Warrior' James T. Cotton!! The prolific Ann Arbor producer is a pioneer to the current wave of raw underground American house, and an essential DJ to witness in action. He's supported by live hardware performances from Entro Senestre, dark horse of Brooklyn's mutant house scene, and L.I.E.S.' Bookworms, who will open the night with a DJ set, transitioning into a 1 hour live set of his signature soulful/smudged late night sound. All ...of this under a canopy of hanging parachutes installed just for the party(!) Fog, cheap drinks, D A N C E

--JTC--
Tadd Mullinix AKA James T Cotton has been leading the way for a new wave of jackin house, acid, techno and electro since the mid-90s with a slew of releases and world-touring. He's also the man behind many aliases including Ghostly International's Dabrye, and a frequent collaborator with Mutual Dreaming favorite, Traxx, as well as Todd Osborn, D'Marc Cantu & others. He's a DJ in the tradition of Ron Hardy & Jeff Mills, blending unreleased originals, techno, disco, and everything in-between with impeccable mixing skills. Super excited to have him here!
This party also marks the release of JTC's People Mover EP coming out on Brooklyn label Ansatz, run by Ben Gebhart of Zoovox.

--Entro Senestre--
Jon Beall AKA Entro Senestre is one of my favorites from the Brooklyn crop of underground dance freaks. Influenced by Drexciya, Dance Mania, Dutch Electro, RZA and more, his tracks are tightly wound, funky, dark, analog machine music that is as catchy as it is challenging. 1 hour live set! Look out for a collab record with Will Burnett coming soon on L.I.E.S..

--Bookworms--
"Of the many L.I.E.S. releases this year, it was “African Rhythms” by the hitherto unknown Bookworms that seemed to get the most love... It’s not hard to see why: its sampled rhythms bounce and clash with other, seeming on the verge of colliding and shattering at any moment, but magically kept in order over its eight-plus minute runtime. Vocals float in and out of the mix almost like ghosts, while a simple three-note sequence lends only the faintest hint of melody.. but the deep, hypnotic state that its grooves summoned didn’t need anything else." -Little White Earbuds on their #7 pick of 2012 year-end top tracks.

Fri, 08 Feb 2013UPDATE! so unfortunately JTC's flight was cancelled and we're rescheduling for hopefully soon. But as long as its not impossible for cabs to drive to 285, the **party will still be going down!!** intimate lock-in as the snow falls... Even rawer sets by Bookworms & Entro Senestre, plus two of BK's deepest DJs will fill in, Jan Woo & Lori Napoleon (Detroit-schooled drexciyan goddess AKA Antenes). Maybe ITAL will get in the mix as well. entry reduced to $12. Parachutes still going up.. boosted... More

Mon, 04 Feb 2013@elbowless yea its no function 1 unfortunately! but we always amp it up as much as possible, sometimes bringing in entire systems and always at least with additional speaker tops & subs to make the highs clearer & bass heavier. for these two we're doing something special by hanging a 60foot parachute from the ceiling which will cushion the sound (and be fun for dancing!!)

Sat, 02 Feb 2013argh, sick line-up. Would be so much better if 285 beefed up their sound so it wasn't like raving in a tin can :/

Is the sound same as ever? Haven't been in a while cause it sounded so shitty the last few times I have gone there.
