Kumasi Parties are looking to switch up the tone, as their live and fresh deep house and disco hybrids get crammed into a small, dark basement, where the tunes have nowhere to hide. A specially curated line-up of Kumasi and guests play host to a 300 people in East London, indulging in a broad spectrum of 4 x 4.
At the helm for our Kumasi Basement Party is SHARAM JEY. Sharam is a seasoned veteran of the dance music industry, with over ten years experience as a producer and DJ to his name, as well as upwards of fifty releases and remixes. Having started making warehouse-ready house and techno, Sharam has continued to reinvent and reinvigorate his sound, which now centres around various editing techniques for disco tracks. He has two record labels to his name; King Kong Records, and his newer Bunny Tiger imprint. His Bunny Tiger label is currently pushing house and disco collaborations with the likes of Kolombo, Phonique and Tapesh, as well as exclusives from Sharam himself, and impressively currently has no less than 10 tracks in the Beatport Top 100 chart. Amsterdam duo PONY join Sharam, as their inspired rework of Jon Celius’ “Still Don’t Love You” gets due praise and attention from across the board, and recently featured on Eats Everything’s Essential Mix for Radio 1.
Kumasi stalwarts are next in line, as Leeds pair MATT FEAR and KREATURE continue their Kumasi Parties residency. Matt Fear has had the exemplary “Groove With It” signed to Resonance Records, and sees his calendar get fuller and fuller as his upbeat sound continues to hone itself. Kreature has seen releases on Union Jack recently, along with the title tracks for the first ever Kumasi EP. SION joins the fray following his releases for MTA Records, Sleazy Deep and Nasty Funk. The young prodigy will flex his selectors muscles off the back of support from Solomun, Kolombo and Chase and Status. Expect the raw basement space to bring the best out of Kumasi. Tickets limited to 300.
